Spanish Football 2011-2012

As luck would have it......

Check Ronaldos stats, cups, goals, awards and achievements while at United.

Firstly, cups and team awards can be very misleading when looking at individual ability. Unless of course you think Phil Neal is an all time great.

Ronaldo only had 1 season at Utd remotely comparable to 2 and a bit seasons he's had at Real.

Ronaldo was only starting to become "The best player in the world" when he left United. He was just another top 10 list at Man U.

Now Nani is a top 10 list at Man U. Which means he'll probably be sold for 50+ million next summer. :(

He's gone from the best side in England to the second best side in Spain, which is a very large mile ahead of the opposition!

But he also crapped all over what anyone else could do in England or at the best side in England, and he's crapped all over what anyone else has done at Real Madrid easily aswell.

O'shea was at Utd and has won loads of stuff for them, if he went to Real and also won a cup, would that also make him one of the best players in the world, of course not, who you play for doesn't change how good you are, or aren't.

LIkewise bringing up world cups is laughably stupid, Pele won world cups because brazil have a very strong team and have for as long as anyone can remember, Portugal don't have a strong team, Argentina have good players, but not a fantastic team, not at all a bad team and they have a significant shot at winning something.

IF Hleb was as good as Messi, would failing to win the world cup with Belarus rule him out of being classed a great player. World cups are holy grails mostly because, its only every 4 years, and not many people can win one, its FAR harder to win, because while you can move to any club in the world to win titles, you can't move to a better national side.

Messi and Ronaldo are awesome, simple as that. Messi has a team supporting him, Ronaldo has a far weaker team around him, both get easy and hard goals.

The Messi one where he just he cut in from wide than turned away inside the box from the defenders, it was a nice looking goal and a clinical finish, but defensively it was laughable, defenders looked like deer's caught in headlights, awful positioning, awful movement, no tackling, no reading what he might do, it was a pretty easy goal but very few people inspire such fear in defenders that they make it easy for themselves.

Messi is so unpredictable and almost impossible to defend against when he goes on those little runs. Who in the right mind would go near post from that angle?

When you play Barca you have to change your tactics completely. I think most defenders just get confused between normal tactics and playing against Messi tactics. They just stand there and leave huge wide open gaps for him to run in to. One guy just pokes his foot out and thinks "ah forgot it." lol.

Ronaldo had a 42 goal season, then another 30goal + season, then went for 80mil, the 42 goals happened at a younger age than Nani is now.

He had three seasons at Utd that dwarfed anything Nani has done before leaving, 26 goals, 20 assists/43 goals 8 assists/34 goals 9 assists in his final 3 seasons at Utd. For 3 years he was the best player in the league, just varying levels of awesomeness really(and diving) :p

Nani's previous 3 seasons are 10 goals 4 assists/8 goals 9 assists/13 goals 17 assists.

For the record those three seasons in each case were the seasons both players had their 22nd, 23rd, 24th birthdays in. So basically same level of developement.

Should we compare goals/assists in those same years for both players.

Ronaldo 103 goals, Nani 27, Ronaldo 37 assists, Nani 26.

Did Nani play less, sure, did Ronaldo play 4 times as much as Nani, not even remotely close.

Ronaldo was a top 3 list while at Utd, just widely hated for diving, which he does less of now and less stupid haircut. Nani isn't in a top 30 list yet, he's not even the best winger at Utd let alone in the top 5 players at Utd.

Errm, to be fair a lot of people would go near post, for two reasons, the only defender actually trying to defend was coming in cutting off the angle and if you watch you'll see the keeper starts going to his right, for that angle and its only then Messi goes near post.

But I said its a good finish, the first defender though, just doesn't bother, its the two in the middle, one stands still and makes no attempt to push Messi one way or the other, the second guy who was closer to the goal, rather than plug that hole, moved to stand behind the other guy, woeful defendering, he created the gap, moved out the way, then just stood still to let him past once he was out of the way.

You can't blame Messi for getting crap defending infront of him, but I also find it hard to call the goal epic or brilliant, when the defence mostly just moved out of the way. You can blame Messi for the defenders all crapping themselves, panicking and doing stuff so stupid ;)

ITs catch 22, the more Ronaldo and Messi do, the more fear they inspire, the more mistakes get made and the easier it gets, which in turn, scares defenders more. Defenders bring it on themselves and make it worse.

I think Giggs at his best had a similar thing, he would just run at speed and rather than be epic at dribbling, made defenders scared to even try to tackle him for fear of getting it wrong. Great players get to a point that it just gets easier as players lose the ability to think rationally when up against them.

Messi

That is all, so unbelievably good he is and hes linking up with Fabregas so so well. Makes Ronaldo look positively boring:p

Messi > Ronaldo

For a few reasons.
Messi is a team player his goals and ASSISTS yes football is a team game is better than Ronaldo.
Messi doesn't go missing in big games like Ronaldo quite often seems to.
Messi has better vision and passing, his constant through balls are incredible, that one last week against Valencia, he cut out 4 defenders from an unbelievably tight angle and picked out Villa.
Messi isn't such a douche

:D

Yeah but who gets second place? :p

No one...Balotelli is a god amongst footballers...clearly Messi and Ronaldo just cannot touch or even get close to that mans individual talent:p

There is only one Balotelli...

On a serious note, id definitely have Messi above Ronaldo no doubt about it...Ronaldo is good, very good but Messi is on another planet entirely...last night Ronaldo goes and scores a hattrick and Messi then proceeds to score a hattrick...just made me laugh when i saw the pair of them score hattricks last night.

Valencia winning last night with this goal. Back joint top with Malaga.
