Spanish Football 2011-2012

People in fifa thread Lucas is a better holding mid than Busquets.

Please read the full post below including the links to Zonal Marking and watch the videos before making your mind up.

Also when Busquets most famous "diving" incident happened he was only 21 years old, people still remember this incident and bring it up when his name is mentioned, he was extremely young, players like Rooney, Drogba, Gerrard, etc have all dived in recent times and are much older. Busquets is still only 23 years old. I think it's time you forgave him for an incident which happened 2 years ago when he was 21 and give him the benefit of the doubt he has grown more since then.

The Zonal marking analysis proves he is currently easily in the top 3 holding mids in the world, and arguably the best ever.

Seriously read everything before making judgement.

Sonny, I think you really need to give credit for the C&P job done on that Busquets post. The one you did before about stats in the FIFA thread was OK because it was obviously not yours but you're trying to pass that all off as your own work. :o Original post is here: http://forum.ea.com/uk/posts/list/90/1339356.page

ive added to it and edited stuff, but yeah a lot was from EA forums, still regardless, that is not up for debate the whole Lucas is better than Busquets is.

Busquets is easily the best holding mid in the world but he goes un noticed because he is designed to go un noticed.

I'd already posted this before, not so much for the clips but for the quotes from team-mates and the manager:

He has a pathological fear of goal though and will ALWAYS try and pass it even when in a good scoring position.

wow, that is an amazing video, people still only remember him for that dive when he was 21.

Robben, Ronaldo, etc all do it, yet you can hardly call them crap players, he did it once when he was 21 and gets crucified, brilliant video, some of those long through balls where amazing, like the amount of time he had to make those decisions and he got the passes "perfect" i mean most players dream of passing like that.

Lucas better than Busquets? Christ almighty :o

Busquets if you ignore his theatrics is easily one of the best midfielders in the world (note I said midfielders i.e. not simply one of the best holding midfielders). He's walk into any team on the planet and improve them.

yeah it's funny how people think Lucas is better than Busquets when, Mascherano is better than Lucas and Mascherano isn't a regular first team starter unlike Busquets is.

not saying Lucas is crap, but Busquets is a lot better, the difference is night and day in my eyes.

Busquet's buyout clause is £150m or something, says it all. Forced Toure out of the starting XI (a great buy for City in the end)... he still looks like a low-level gangster from the 1920's or something though (along with Pedro). Just needs a top hat, ill-fitting pinstripe suit and tommy gun.

Hopefully City will have your game wrapped up by the time this starts so I can flick over and watch the Classico instead. Seems obvious but a draw or Barca win, Real blew their chance last week

Busquets is one of the most overrated players going. He's a decent player, nothing more, nothing less. He's not the first average player to play in a great side and to be overrated either.

You couldn't be more wrong, have you seen that video....... they showed it in superslowmooooooooo......

He turned around, in super slow mo, therefore it is the best move ever in the history of the world... everything that gets shown in super slow mo is just awesome.

Busquet's is more than decent, no where near the best, as for why he ousted Yaya from the team, Busquets at the time on likely sub 50k, yaya, on likely 150k+ and a bit lazy, fitness issues(which are costing City points in the past 6-8 weeks he's been very very "meh" ) and Barca having financial issues, Yaya was far more sellable than Busquets.

Likewise youtube = awful for gauging a player's quality. Because he's probably now played what, 100+ games for them, that could be several hundred's or hours and you can find a few minutes of highlights, which even in that video is like 7-8 things.

Seriously, if someone wanted to do a highlights video of Heskey they could make him look world class, or do a video showing all of Messi's many many misses and you could make him look bad.

I mean it would appear that Walcott's entire reputation is built on 5 year old youtube video's and hell, maybe Sven took him to the world cup based off a youtube video. Anyone who has actually seen him play(including Sven actually during the world cup) wouldn't ever start the twit, yet loads of people think he's incredibly good.

Anyway, Baz I would say most of the greatest teams are much more than the sum of their parts anyway. The simple fact is most players look better when the team around them is better. Barca have more teams sit back and refuse to attack them than any other team in the world, the defence is forced to do less than most other teams, so will naturally look better. A great CB partnership can make two poor fullbacks look effective, or cover for a crap DM, or a absurdly good DM can cover for a crap defensive back line, etc, etc.

hehe, its a pretty awesome night of football spoiled by bad timing, the Spanish stay up stupid late anyway so why not have the game start an hour later.

Gonna have one of the games on tv and one on laptop methinks, depends which one is more exciting over which one is on TV.

The thing is, the el classico almost always heats up(as do most two legged games) a crapload in the second leg...... so what the hell will tonight be like, can't wait for it.

Given what you said about Lucas, Tom, how you can praise Busquets is beyond me. Busquets is the definition of a limited footballer; he gets the ball and gives it to Xavi. He's not even that great defensively, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if Xavi won back the ball just as much as Busquets does. He does a very simple job, in a great side, well. As usual, in some people's simple minds, if you play for the best team in the world then you surely must be better than any player from a weaker side.

Lucas on the other hand is extremely good defensively (won more tackles and interceptions (not sure if they're individual or combined) than anybody in the top 4 leagues last season and at the time he was injured, he was top of that again) and is far more creative on the ball.

There are plenty more players than Lucas that are better than Busquets too.

Limited footballer? You've failed to notice his ball manipulation and his one touch play then have you? I guess you've also failed to notice how he's keeping Mascherano out of the Barca team? Mascherano being a player who's also better than Lucas.

As for the second part about how playing for the best side may cloud peoples judgement.... what's your argument again? Oh yeah that Lucas, a Liverpool player, the team you support is better. Spot the irony eh, what was it you said about simply minds ;)

Baz in rating a Liverpool player too highly shocker

Tom in rating a Liverpool player too little shocker

Whatever next.
