Spanish Grand Prix 2011, Circuit de Catalunya- Race 5/19

They're looking for all these reasons for RBR qualifying pace - surely it's down to the DRS being used all lap, with RBR having a huge benefit from it comparatively.

Red Bull have gone with a wing flap thats morte advantageous in qualifying rather than pretty much everyone else who went for the race advantage.

Kenai, RBR being able to open their DRS just shows how much downforce they have.

The FIA need to sort this blown diffuser issue out, my guess is that RBR use a very aggresive fuel map in Qually to get their diffuser working far more effectively than it ever would in a race,

Sure.. let them use it. But the mapping used in Qually has to be the same that's used all race.

mclaren atleast in hamiltons hands was the fastest car today, he was catching vettel all race, just red bull can do strategy and know when to bring in drivers so every stop vettel gained time over everyone.

are they banning the blown diffusers for the next race? or have they postponed it for a while? i thought it was just because they announced it so close to this race that it was postponed.

I don't see how people think the mclaren was faster than the red bull (even Coulthard).Hamilton was right, the red bull had crazy traction/downforce on the fast corners. You just have to look at how much Vettel pulled away from Hamilton on the fast corner. That advantage is what one Vettel the grand price otherwise Hamilton would have had him easily on the drs zone.

Exactly, I don't know why they're all on about different engine maps etc. when the DRS seems the obvious answer - it gives them more benefit which is wiped out in the race when they're not allowed to have it open whenever they want.

Really enjoyed the race today.

Wish Hamilton could have taken Vettel at the end but no real complaints. In fact, I think Vettel proved himself today and had an excellent race. You can't really tar him with the 'time trialling' label today.

Alonso has an epic start but I can't really say I'm sad to see him fall back the way he did. The complete reverse for JB though, he had an absolute shocker of a first lap but his drive and his strategy were spot on.

I feel really sorry for Heiki though, he'd had an amazing weekend until that point.

Schumacher also had a good race beating Rosberg.

As a McLaren fan I'm pleased that both drivers got onto the podium, I just wish they had both been one place higher. ;)

what you say is possibly true as well tbh, as they do try to minimise the fuel in the car for the race.

set up the car to use less rear wing, but more from the floor then use the DRS around the rest of the circuit for higher speed

anyway looks like Hammi, Button and Webber are going to get penalties.

Oh come off it FIA. What a farce.

"Oh i know, lets ruin the Monaco grand prix, the best in the calender, by giving 3 of the front runners penalties"

What a surprise that Vettel isnt in there :o
