Spanish Grand Prix 2013, Barcelona - Race 5/19

So, if there was no previous breach of this reg, would the stewards have penalized Alonso

Only with a fine. It's only a regulation to ensure drivers return to the pits ASAP and don't do a MotoGP and go off swimming/10-pin bowling between the end of the race and the podium.

Im just glad to see Toyota back in F1, just hope they can convert those qualifying positions to end of race positions soon though ;):p. Maybe they need to get Ralf?

ps3ud0

I think the only thing Jenson can smile about was when McLaren told Perez not to overtake.

Or are we pretending he was looking after his tyres ?

not like Perez did anything to shout about today (and if he had tried overtaking, whats the betting he would have taken both cars out)

Unfortunately we can only imagine how much further up JB would have been if the tyre pressures had been correct yesterday in Q2, its fair to say he would have probably beaten the pole sitter at the very least

Very true, but Lotus need to get a win or two very soon, otherwise Kimi will be left behind.

(Merc are eating their tyres too much to win currently, McLaren are no-where, and while RBR had a bad day today that's more like an anomaly rather than a worrying trend at the moment)

Im glad Fred won today rather than The Finger, and glad Massa kept the latter off the podium. Depending on other people Merc can fight for the last step of the podium but its a tussle between RBR and Ferrari for the major points

Fantastic race..loved it.

Well done Massa for getting on the Podium, but that trophy looked like a packet of jaffa cakes compared to 1st prize trophy lol

Nice not seeing Vettel on the podium for once :D Also did anyone watch the Red Button forum afterwards? Horner doesn't take loosing too well. :)

Good job by Lee during the awkward interviews. Perry fumbling over her words and asking silly questions as usual. EJ is always the star of the show. :D

Apart from that and Mercedes not able to bring their cars home in a better position after qualifying on the front row...... Go Kimmi!!!!

wtf were you watching? Apart from Alonso's passes at turn 2 and 3 this was the most boring race I've watched in a long long time.

What, exactly, was fantastic about it?

Alonso made me some dollar so I am happy.

Crap race. These tyres are boring me now. They do not add any excitement to the race AT ALL.

Bring back refueling and tyres that last. That was where the excitement was at! Massa blasting down pit lane with half of a petrol station hanging off his car.

Button should be 7th as well (just a race win from 3rd place), if it wasn't for that **** up in the China pit lane which cost him 5th place and 10 points...

Not all that bad if you consider the absolute wretched dog of a car he's having to drive.

Tyres this year are seriously rubbish. The drivers are just coasting around the track. No one is on the edge, hardly anyone puts a foot wrong or makes a mistake because they are grannying it around the track.

it seems totally random as to who's car works best with the tyres for each race as well.

There is no way they would dare penalise Alonso for something so minor. The backlash would be huge.

Of course, in light of this, they may aswell scrap the rule.

They should scrap the rule and make it a bit more fun, bring back the donuts, flags and carrying people on the car.

Pretty dull race, even I think the tyres were really crap.
I still don't think you can blame Pirelli, they're trying to do a hard job they've been asked to do, which even if they got right is pointless with the must run both compound rule.

I don't disagree that the tyres are far too fragile at the moment, they need to be more durable but not to the extent that Red Bull can then walk away with title... as they probably still have the best race car of the pack imo.

But how come Lotus have managed to get on top of the tyres whilst all the other teams are getting pummelled by them?

Pretty much sums it up tbh.

Thinking about the Merc, surely that tyre situation will last for the rest of this season now... They've had how much time to clear this issue up.

Last year they had the same issue, they brought upgrades to this race, they've had all of pre-season to sort the tyre deg out, long breaks in season so far and they've still got a car that eats it's tyres up.

If they haven't sorted it by now, why not? With all that said, I can't see how they think they're going to resolve it anytime soon. There's a fundamental design flaw with that car affecting the tyre deg.
