Spanish Grand Prix 2013, Barcelona - Race 5/19

Regardless of it being a boring race... and boring spectacle..
I think Ferrari really got the strategy absolutely spot on today and did well with tyres which are constantly rolling double sixes in races.

Woah Alonso had a puncture when he came in for one of his pit stops...

Quote from Paul Hembery "We could see the hole and where tread was lifting"

So, on the verge of another delamination then...

Hembery says Alonso would not have won if he had been on last year's tyres as it would have deflated (this year the belt is stiffer)

True, gone from a kevlar belt to a steel belt. Steel conducts heat better, getting total delaminations happening where the glue adhesive appears to be failing along the belted area.

Co-incidence?

What a race! Fantastic win for Alonso, that first lap was amazing. Massa did good too which is nice too see.

I knew Merc's race pace would be bad but what the hell was that? Poor Lewis.

At least McLaren salvaged something from their poor weekend.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Kimi gets to lead the championship after monaco, he's only 4 points behind Vettel. Problem with Monaco is that whoever gets in front stays there as overtaking is more rare than chicken teeth.

Interesting interview with Hembery on the BBC there, We're just seeing the delaminations instead of punctures that we would have normally seen. I guess it is no more dangerous like this.

Large chunks of rubber coming off, flailing parts hitting bodywork, breaking components...

I'd say thats slightly more dangerous than the tyre deflating.
