Spanish Grand Prix 2013, Barcelona - Race 5/19

Large chunks of rubber coming off, flailing parts hitting bodywork, breaking components...

I'd say thats slightly more dangerous than the tyre deflating.

Maybe, but you did use to get that with the tyre deflations quite often. The cars also seem less prone to spearing off into another car like this.

Why is it mercedes can produce a fast car during qualifying, yet utterly fail to keep tyre wear in check to get places during the race? It's so bizarre to see a car which can top the leaderboard during qualifying, then proceed to flop during the race.

It's interesting that Seb won the 2011 Spanish GP with 4 stops but back then it was not too much about the tyres for him or his team :D

Alonso and Ferrari representative have been called to the stewards.
For Alonso stopping on the warm down lap and picking up a flag.

That's actually regulated against in the sporting regulations iirc.

Sporting Reulations said:
43.3 After receiving the end‐of‐race signal all cars must proceed on the circuit directly to the post race parc fermé without any unnecessary delay, without receiving any object whatsoever and without any assistance (except that of the marshals if necessary).

i suspect that Mercedes would pay anyone a lot of money to anyone who knew what the problem was and how to fix it.

sadly i haven't got time to watch the after race ceremonies and interviews, so any pictures of those lovely looking women you have been drooling over on the last page would be much appreciated :D

Its reference material for the people developing the game project CARS of course

Lmao so before the race I said id eat my Mclaren shirt if lewis and nico finished top two... I should have said top 10 about lew... lewis trundleton! ! :D

Stewards decision on Alonso - in order to keep consistency with a previous decision on this regulation, they have decided on no further action.

So that regulation is a bit pointless then...

And since when have the stewards cared about consistency? ;)

So, if there was no previous breach of this reg, would the stewards have penalized Alonso

There is no way they would dare penalise Alonso for something so minor. The backlash would be huge.

Of course, in light of this, they may aswell scrap the rule.
