Makes a change from the chrome! I'm sure I saw a post on autosport saying that they were doing it to make it stand out more at the night races? How does black stand out more than chrome! :p

reflections from chrome were causing problems seeing the cars decals etc.

I think it was a lack of decals that was the issue :p

Ironically (to me anyway) it actually makes the driver number on the front in particular harder to see! It needs filling in rather than just being an outline.

I remember watching this all those years ago when Pastor Malintent won completely on merit and thought that maybe I was wrong about him, maybe he is good. Now I realise I was a fool.

Careful, wouldn't want to invite 8 paragraphs of rebuttal from drunkenmaster ;):p:D

I think we need a poll on

'what percentage of a DM post do you get through? '

10, 25,50,75, **** deep 100pc, I just see the username

:p
Sorry DM lol

Yeah the driver number is particularly bad. It needs to be filled.

Lotus are carrying 'Mad Max Fury Road' sponsorship on their sidepods this weekend.

Rather fitting for Pastor :p

Renault bringing a modified engine spec to Spain apparently, no word yet on if that means reliability updates or actual token usage changes. They think they'll have better power/reliability/driveability this weekend. That along with what is rumoured to be a huge aero update for RBR.

Sounds like RBR are looking to jump back towards Williams or Ferrari, Ferrari have their own fairly large update, Merc have an update, Williams.... honestly not banking on much from them. Basic car with so few improvements since the start of 2014. Lotus having fixed most of last years issues and adapted the car to the Merc engine should be looking to push the design forward now. FI still months away afaik from any meaningful updates. Mclaren.... who knows.

Mercedes parts have great reliability looking at that. LOLRenault is hardly surprising. They always seem to be dying.

Look at the drop in the sidepod, Ferrari are going mental, changes big and small all over the place. Apparently Arrivabene has said almost everything but the nose has changed in some way or another.

That is some pretty radical changes in the sidepod shape though. Merc have a few little winglet bits around the place, a couple ahead of the sideboard on the side of the cockpit, a couple on the rear crash structure. A cooling inlet along the floor/sidepod join about half way from sidepod entry to back of car maybe. Ferrari look like they've got some vents near the engine also, it's expected to be a pretty hot race/track temp this weekend.

The engine unit thing is pre race weekend. It's effectively how the last race finished.

The fia website keeps a page like that for each race, down in the technical reports section you will see a new pdf for, usually one per day, listing which cars took which new parts.

It's been too long from the last race to remember exactly, iirc the biggest issues were all Renault cars had engine issues and Button ers issues, can't recall if anyone else had engine trouble.

Mclaren/Honda's method of telling everyone they are taking new engines for this race... I presume.

Does anyone actually know if the reliability upgrades can be added to existing engines or only new engines? Someone said Mercedes have reliability updates this race but I suspect it's a case of they are ready and probably installed on the extra engines but would only get used if a Merc team needed to take a new engine part?

I know tokens don't retroactively apply to already used engines, but not sure on the reliability updates.

Also, seems from more pictures that the Mclaren colour bits definitely look like different colours from different angles. Orange from some, red from others, the red looks okay, the orange looks much worse, but the design of the red/orange bits is not good either way. Hopefully they'll at least ditch the second nose bit.

Pretty excited, apparently it's 70% new parts on the car, new bargeboard, sidepods, rear and front wings, diffuser etc.

Really hope it translates into being closer to merc but they undoubtedly will be pushing upgrades too.

Drivers conference for those that want to watch.
