Spanish Grand Prix 2015, Catalunya - Race 5/19

Brundle isn't a moron but it's his job to get falsely excited about nothing, point out the blatantly obvious and talk about F1 and racing like he's new to it.

Would be interesting if they had a commentary channel for fans who really know their stuff and so don't need explanations, hype, or babying.

It would be dull as hell.

Both Mercs on the hard tyre faster than Raikkonen on the medium tyre at the end of Q1.

Ferrari throwing too many parts at the car and hoping it'll work? Although, Raikkonen only has some of the new parts on the car.

Even now, what must be a decade after the in season testing ban, Ferrari still haven't adjusted to not having the ability to just pound round Fiorano day after day.

They are still bringing pieces to the track without being 110% certain they will work. The younger teams who never had this luxury don't make that mistake. They don't have that mentality of "just bolt it on and see if it works".

They took parts off Kimi's car supposedly because Kimi didn't like it. The question is did they decide to risk a mix of old and new parts because they wanted aero data/testing to see which of the new bits worked the best, maybe. So they let Vettel have them all but if they remove say 2-3 major bits and run Kimi. If the gap is small then maybe they can say those aren't the best upgrades, if the difference is massive, maybe those are the most important bits and they should focus on better wings or whatever is common on both cars.

It certainly would appear like the risk to be taken there was pushed on the fairly clear no.2 driver. He was a clear no.2 last year, in terms of who the car was aimed at driver style and updates/time out in qualifying, pit stops, etc.

Mclaren have jumped FI... wow, one of only two teams to have had effectively no updates since testing. Manor supposedly have a 2015 car coming, FI actually do have one coming but not till the end of the season.

Mclaren were always going to get faster, so have Merc, Ferrari, Williams, Sauber, etc. Mclaren need to speed up relative to the front guys, not relative to the only teams that aren't speeding up at all. Mclaren passing FI was honestly going to happen regardless. 100% certainly in qualifying, race pace has more ers issues, if FI pass them in the race then they are still not as good a car, just faster in qualifying.

If FI come back past them later in the year with their b spec car, then Mclaren haven't really done anything, far too early to scream and shout about Mclaren improvement. If they make a Q3, or more importantly can look like getting into the top 5 in a race then they are where they want to be.

ALL the teams bring updates to tracks that don't work, suggesting otherwise is ridiculous. Mclaren just stated that their updates are working better with 80-90% working as intended where as last year it was less than 50%.

Sauber just sucking at this track, new front wing not working to well maybe? Bit surprised they've dropped back so far, but the gap between Mclaren and Q3 is massive.

Still the TR's ahead of RBR, may not work out in the race but we'll see. Loving the job TR are doing and both drivers.
