Well Rosberg had a fast lap and was 3/10th's down on Vettel still but Hamilton went 4/10ths faster than Vettel. If Hamilton/Vettel laps were relatively genuine laps then maybe they are closer.
Very hard to judge the gap as Mercedes and Ferrari with the cars from last race I'd expect the gap to grow, maybe significantly, at a twisty track with less long straights. Merc is a downforce king currently much like RBR was during the last regulation period. So if the gap stayed the same as in Bahrain here, I'd probably view that as a bit of a gain in reality for Ferrari. Then again, Ferrari took even more new engine parts now while Merc are still trying to eek this car to the new engine spec, old car, will be at least some part down on power, but mostly turned down in an attempt to get 6 races out of it.
Verstappen has put in a blindingly quick lap, only 4/10th's behind Vettel, 1.1 seconds off the Merc and 7/10ths faster than Sainz. TR seem to have put together a really nice car this year and Verstappen is constantly impressive, Sainz is too but given his age and these odd really special laps and his passing moves so far, Verstappen looks to have some serious potential for the future.
Red Bull's new nose, such a disappointment, effectively the same nose but with high arches cut around the bulbous tip of the nose making the bulbous part more prominent, a little Mclaren last year like with the arches and an overall ugly as hell solution IMHO. With all the rumours of a short nose I presumed it would be a short nose in the style of Merc/Lotus
