That quali just shows how good mercs whole package is.

Bottas just behind Hamilton. Red bull and ferrari are a one man team.

Great aero
Great engine
Drivers which don't cause hassle for the team

Albon and vettel need to go!

Renault and Ocon not great.
Get hulk back in

Ocon is not performing, but as decent as Hulk is, he was fairly beaten by Ricciardo. We know Danni Ric is good, but he's not an 'alien' (as they call them in MotoGP) like Max and Lewis, so where does that leave him? Perez wasn't really any better than Ocon either at RP. Does that make them 2nd tier and drivers like Leclerc and Danni Ric tier 1.5?

Yeah agree.

There are a few amazing drivers

Lewis, verstappen
Not sure on leclerc

Good drivers like Bottas and Riccardo

Loads of average drivers

There aren't really any good options
Personally Perez and Alonso would be an interesting line up. But that's assuming Alonso still has talent

This was interesting on the BBC:

Vettel complained after qualifying of a nervous rear on his car - exactly the opposite of comments from Leclerc, who said his "just didn't have enough front end to rotate the car and we lost quite a bit of time because of this. It is something we regularly have with this car, struggling with the front in mid-corner".

Either the car is just all over the place, or they both like very different set-ups and characteristics in car, or a combination of both. I wonder if the car being more on the nose, possibly the last couple of seasons, if the reason Vettel has spun so easily from even small contact with other cars. Possibly the RB is similar.

No, but it's fully expected that it'll be Perez leaving and Stroll staying... for whatever sense that makes.

Of course Stroll will be staying but why would Perez be leaving? Has he had a better offer? I know RP have been talking to Vettel, but on current form Perez is the better driver.

There's some mention on twitter that the Mercs didn't even use their max strat mode.

Seems that Mercedes was using Strat 3 instead of their max power Strat 2 setting. Ominous if they did. Didn't use their normal 2nd run Q2 and Q3 power setting and still 0.7s up...

And Ferrari claim they don't have a Quali mode at the moment.

Would be amusing if they ban the max strat. So merc leave it default on and increase the gap!

Really enjoyable F2 feature race even if it was a chaotic mess :)

Really enjoying the support races this year!

Its not all about form; for Aston Martin having a 4 time world champion of the stature of Vettel would be massive from a marketing and image point of view; neither Stroll or Perez are going to do that.
Having Vettel in the British Racing Green (we can hope that's the colour they go for!) is a statement of intent; yes it might end up more like Schumacher's Mercedes stint but there's a lot more to Aston Martin taking Vettel than just his driving.

Personally I think Vettel will have a reset when he gets out of Ferrari anyway; its clear its not a great place to be at the best of times; and I'd say having been fired before a wheel was turned isn't exactly the "best of times"
