Blinkered view, yea ok. Do you mean like all the blind Lulu fans on here. And who said I’m a Max fan? I’m far from it I can assure you.

Clown Hamilton is a fraud and I Keep telling everyone and no one here can see it, thankfully GR is providing all the evidence to support my claims.
Driver of the day for me :)

Bottas showing the naysayers that he indeed isn't as crap as they make out.

Honestly would like Ferrari to swap Sainz for Valterri, as they need someone who is not only fast, but is both consistent and can handle the pressure. Carlos has been all over the place.

Did anyone else quite enjoy the racing sans Max's DRS with George? Loved seeing the toys come flying during that part of the race.

Bottas handle the pressure? In a car that was for the most of his participation way ahead of the field, he still couldn't regularly secure top 2 finish. He seems more than capable in a midfield car where his team mate is new / not as good and there isn't much expectation, but you would not want him as a number 2 driver in a competitive field. Sainz, for now, needs to stop trying to compete with Lecler... Just be happy to be ahead of the redbulls and bring it home.

Yeh that fight was great. Russell's defending was really impressive.

Other than 2018 when Ferrari and RB could compete, he ended the year 2nd or 3rd in the WDC whilst being reminded constantly he was in Lewis' shadow and wasn't fast enough. Although as you have said, Carlos needs to focus on what he is doing. Look at what Sergio does at RB. We've not had anything even close to that from him at ferrari.

Ferrari have two drivers prone to making mistakes. We've seen it with LeClerc before, but until Q3 this season he was doing pretty well.

Sainz had hints of mistakes last year at Ferrari but was generally pretty consistent. I'm not sure Bottas would be a great improvement, even though his is driving well at the moment.

I'm not sure Russell did anything special here. Its a track known to be difficult to overtake on, and one car didn't have a properly functioning DRS. IMO he kind of did as would be expect, unlike say Bottas at Merc who often did less than expected when it came to keeping drivers behind him.

I think Bottas would have been a shoe-in for that place if the big driver shuffle had come a year later. That said, I think Alfa is a better place for Valteri, he seems to be enjoying life there and being in a position to lead the team after all those years in Lewis' shadow is a good move for him. Go to Ferrari and he'll have a life much like he had at Mercedes: a fast car but never able to keep pace with his teammate. And Ferrari are usually stronger on giving all their support to one driver than Merc.

Let's face it, every single driver on the grid would be annoyed and complain in that situation. If it was broken then you can just forget about it and get on with racing, but not knowing if it's going to work or not would frustrate everyone. Though it was fun to watch and I would actually prefer a random DRS allocation as the cars go through the detection zone. Say 1/3 of the field would get a DRS each lap. They could try it in Sprint race to spice it up.

Yeah, 'cause the sport absolutely needs gimmicky crap like that :p

My issue, and I think most peoples too, with DRS is that it's the main form of overtaking. Why risk going for a move in to a corner when you can breeze past down the DRS straight. When DRS was brought in, it was supposed to negate the time lost of following a car and help them get in to a position to try and overtake. Basically the Max and Russell battle. Watching a car sail passed and be a couple of car lengths clear by the braking zone gives the defending car no chance and is boring.

Yeah. Now that the cars can follow more easily there's really no need for DRS. Because at the moment, you just need to get within 1sec of someone and the pass is yours. Who knows, maybe the FIA were watching Russell/Verstappen and might figure out that no DRS would provide much more interesting racing.

But didnt Max only get close to taking him over when his DRS did actually open?

Every time it didnt, he wasnt close enough by turn 1.

I might be wrong, but im sure the close battle at turn 1 we saw between them was on one of the few occasions that his DRS did actually open.

Yeah, I didn't quite understand why the commentators made such a big deal of it, I thought it was fairly standard defending? Make the other person go all the way around the long way, or too tight to the corner to hold speed coming out. I was more impressed that Max almost managed a dive inside that one time, but then to GR's credit, he did great to get back in front.

Lol at KMag blaming Lewis for first lap incident
Meant outstanding yet under-the-radar drive for Hamilton to get back, even past Sainz (over-rated driver anyway) before technical issues
If Perez actually pulled his finger out and was closer to Max in the championship he may have had an excuse to be a little salty.
Certainly liveliest Spanish GP I’ve seen in some time
