I don't think it's that. More often it's just Nouveau riche extravagance.

There's certainly an element of that. China's Nouveau riche are barmy. Look at that $1mill dog. It was transported by a motorcade of 30 or so cars. Tasteless!

I hardly ever venture into motors except on about the 2 occasions where I wanted something, however two things I would note would be:

1) Yes - I agree with the green tinged comment;
2) Didn't Mark post a thread at some point about his son who had no motivation and didn't want to particpate in the family trade or find a career path and Mark was worried this was because he had spoilt him too much?

The reason I raise this is whilst the posts may be somewhat jealousy driven doesn't negate the fact that the posters may actually be onto something.

Alternatively 2) may actually have been posted by someone else, in which case none of the above applies!

I shall pass all your parenting tips on to my brother, this is my nieces car not my daughter.

As for my kids, giving them everything has resulted in a very bright level headed girl and my son.

My son would have chosen the path he did regardless of what he was given im convinced of that, so best he had everything.

I'm going to give everything I possibly can to my daughter as my parents did with me.

It's something I never realized until she was born.

I really dont know, he has a tendency towards violence which has recently landed him in his worst to date spot, that i suppose he has got from me.

As for his lack of interest in anything business i just dont know, but having spent a great deal of time thinking about this, i really dont think throwing him into the world with nothing would have changed this, and whats the point, when i go he wont ever work another day in his life, so what was the point of starving the kid now?

My parents are fairly well to do but i've lived a life almost opposite of my cousins who are rich spoilt brats, their treatment of people and contempt for the working class is horrible. I do try to live independently and do my own stuff but i won't say no to some wonga every now and then from my folks, if its there, and since i'm an only child, why not?
