US: Spartacus - War Of The Damned

Welled up like a little girl in a few places, so much pure emotion running through this final episode.

A great series, it'll be a while til we see one like this again.

watched last two episodes back to back last night man emotions were running high no tears but hell they made a good job of the ending

Great series and will miss it ,sad it ended but i think its bowed out perfectly without over reaching itself :)

So good, really impressed with this show. I thought I may not be able to watch it after Andy passed, and it took a while to get into, but I think he did a good job in the end. The showdown was awesome, the look in Spartacus' eyes as he looks up at Crassus, boom.

Will wait for the price to come down of the blu ray boxset.

Can barely remember Andy as Spartacus now too, Liam eventually took over the role completely.

No way. Go back and watch Blood & Sand and you'll see just how much better Andy was than Liam. The difference is like light and day. There was no replacement for Andy, unfortunately, and the series never really recovered.

Such a shame.

Good ending to a good show but the final battle plan was daft. Building a trench to kill a few soldiers but then force your men to cross tiny bridges 1 by 1...

I must go back and watch the first few episodes of season 1 as I remember thinking at the time that it was fairly average, with a lot of poor acting. I wonder did the acting improve or did I just become accustomed to it!

A fantastic ending to one of my all-time television favourites. Each series has been quite different and I have enjoyed them all. Andy's death was a true tragedy but I think Liam did very well. Much like Andy, Liam's first couple of episodes were a bit lacking but he got into it quickly and by the finale of Vengeance he was Spartacus.

I thought the way that the writers rolled in some elements of history was excellent and I loved the whole "I am Spartacus" bit.

Special memories of John Hannah and Lucy Lawless. Just amazing acting throughout. And, wow, did Lucy look good! :)

All in all, I'm a little bummed that the ride is over. I will rewatch them soon as my other half hadn't even heard of the show. I am hoping that I will see the same shock, amazement, joy and fear in her eyes that must have been in mine.

Such an awesome series! Loved the finale last night... definitely one of my favourite series. Through-out the whole series all the intense fights etc were edge of the seat stuff, getting my adrenaline going in most of the arena fights. I'll definitely miss this series!

One thing though, I was expecting more of tribute to Andy Whitfield at the end. Maybe a request from Andy Whitfield himself before he passed? From watching the clip for his documentary about his journey through cancer etc, it seems like he wasn't the sort to want a big thing made of it.

Will definitely be buying the box set when released!

Did you watch right til the end of the credits?

This was an awesome series and had such an epic finale. I liked how they did that thing where Crassus was doing that reversal move he did to his trainer and Spartacus grabbed it. I was thinking "OH shiiii he's going to die!" and he suddenly grabbed it like a boss!

I was gutted when the spears suddenly flew into him. It was also really sad what happened to Gannicus. They just couldn't beat him so they just closed in on him as he ran out of steam. It tragically ironic that he was crucified and him seeing that slave girl be crucified by Glabba was actually what made him join Spartacus.

I was a bit puzzled about why they kept going on about that roman sword, it kept changing hands but didn't really affect the plot, it was just a sword they kept commenting on.

It was somewhat silly that Agron left his shield as a marker on Spartacus' grave, especially since that was a custom made weapon for him since he couldn't hold a sword anymore. I would have preferred an ending where the camera zoomed up away from the grave and it was just a featureless pile of stones among many, so that's why it was never found.

Overall Season 1 is still my favourite since Andy was such a great actor and really showed emotion as well as brute strength. I found Liam very 1 dimensional, just talking in a gruff voice a lot and barking out orders or giving speeches. I didn't see him as an underdog like in the first season, and he was nowhere near ripped enough like Andy was so I didn't buy him as an awesome warrior. He was quite good in the last episode though - that scene with him running up the hill was epic!
