SPAZ - Space Pirates and Zombies

I d'led the demo on Saturday morning, brought the game Sunday morning & have been playing it just about every free moment since.

For those playing either demo or full if its out now, what tips would you recommend for those that have just tried it a bit and still not sure what ship to use at the begining really, what upgrades, what to research what other ships to fly with u?

I'll have to give the demo a go when I get back home. Are they still working on it?

Yeah. The latest version is 0.7 or so - I believe they plan to hit version 1 for their release on steam (whenever that is). I've not completed the game yet but there's been a ton of fun so far and I've wasted at least 10 hours on it - probably a whole lot more.

Best thing to do is to think about what you want your ships to do and to look at the cargo/crew capacity and weapon/utility mounts of each ship. I personally try to have my heaviest hitter as the main ship and then ships either with large cargo holds, crew quarters or simply decent weapons, depending on what I need at any particular moment. Research-wise it's really up to you. The way I've gone about it is to basically research whatever is required by any particular tech I pick up on the black market.

Why is the price of this game all over the place? Thought I'd check out how much it was while the demo dl'd and there seems to be about £2 devitation (with green man gaming and Desura coming out on top) and oddly no mention anywhere of the 25% beta discount mentioned on the homepage.

Bleh. I just bought it from the MinMax link as that's the one that gives the devs the most cash. Got my money's worth already :)

Had another go last night, played about for a hour. It is a nice game. Just wish the designs were a bit better and more homeworld looking. A fleet of ion cannon frigs or missile frigs or combo and id be in paradise. :)

But as it is, its nice especially for 2 creators for a few years. I just got the first of the 3rd branch of ships for my personal ship, its pretty good but only 1 focus beam thingy (red beam) 2 miss launchers and 2 tractors. Does make it a nice all-rounder but i would have preferred dual beams instead of one. I moved out of the first sector into a level 5 (biggest galaxy generated). It is good that relations are reset so to speak per sector, makes it easier to switch allegiances better.

I probs might buy it when it gets to about a fiver as thats about as much as i would spend on a game like this. As knowing me i would probably buy it enjoy it for a very short time and just stop playing. So wouldnt wana spend too much just incase that happens.

Yeh I found this, got mine on GMG but had to install it via their "capsule" installer which was a bit crap.

Worth the tenner though, love games like this.. Kinda reminds me of Evil Genius which I spend days on!

Apart from the bit that says "25% OFF BETA!" right above the big "BUY NOW"?

Yeah I'm not too sure about spending £9 on this either. At least not just yet. Looks like it could be fun but I've got enough to be doing with World of Tanks and DoW2 Retribution atm.

Did you even take the time to read what I put and figure out what I meant?

Loving this game and its eating way too much of my time up. Just posted this up on the official forums as well but thought I'll post it for folks here as well. Until now, I've not found a way of getting all my ships to mine by themselves. I've always had to leave one ship sat there doing nothing. Not anymore!

Basically setup all your ships as you normally would do to mine so the first 2 are mining away. Then when controlling your third ship, go into the tactics panel and select repair. Now leave the tactics panel so you can see your ship flashing away with 'repair', then before it warps off, go back into the tactics panel and cancel the repair. Now as long as you don't select any of your ships again they should all be flying around by themselves mining away.

This should work for general combat as well, but I've not tested that bit out just yet.
