Spec Check Please?

Installed everything, can boot to Windows however, I am currently not using a soundcard, I have to use my onboard sound for the time being.

I think I have a faulty soundcard.

I plug the Asus DGX into the PCIE slot and turn on the pc. I can then hear all of the fans which seem to go fast then slow down and this continues. The pc does NOT Post.

I have tried plugging the soundcard into a different PCIE slot and the same thing happens.

I have also taken out the graphics card with the soundcard plugged into a PCIE slot and the same thing happens.

Do I have a faulty soundcard? :(

Bro, this might sound stupid. But the pci e soundcard needs power, it won't work without power. Unlike pci ones that work just in the pci slot. Hope that makes sense.
I also would update the bios if it is outdated, but make sure to have a usb flash back bios.

I have tried connecting a Floppy Connector from the PSU to the Soundcard however, I could not locate a power supplier connector on the soundcard.

Please look at this picture and let me know where the power connector for this soundcard is?:(

Do not hotlink images!

I have just seen your previous replies, as expected, this soundcard does NOT need power :p

So, I'll try upgrading the BIOS tonight.

Any other recommendations?

There is none bro - I made a mistake in thinking it did, as it was a PCI-e like mine.

You DO have a front panel out though - attach that to the fractal one :D!
As for everything not posting...you tried putting it (if possible) in another PC?

Could be as u said the soundcard, but also the mobo...
Try putting another pci-e thing into that slot for example.

I will try the soundcard in my old pc too.

I will also double/tripple/quadrupple check that I have seated the soundcard in correctly :)

Thanks all :D

Stulid :p :p :p

I updated the bios to F17 and booted the PC. The PC then posted but then displayed a black screen. I then reset the PC and the PC booted into Windows :D

Who would have thought that a BIOS update would have fixed a boot issue, learnt something new yesterday .

My Internet also stopped working after i disconnected my router from the old pc. Who would have thought that i had a faulty router (kept restarting previously) so i replaced the router and was able to access the Internet :D.

I also was planning to use my old ODD which had the old IDE connector so found out that i was not able to use it in my new Motherboard (ODD now ordered) so could not even install Windows :(. Had to use a flash drive so i did not have a spare one, decided to use my ipod and then found out that it was not bootable lol! Ended up borrowing a usb flash drive and managed to install Windows 8 in 5 minutes lol!

I have learnt so much this week :p

hehe i did wonder why there was no build log
do we get some pics of it all setup? or to busy playing games to talk to us? ><

o and have you downloaded stuff like coretemp and afterburner?

There definitely will be pictures as promised :D

I will do my very best to complete it all tonight.

Am out tonight so depends what time I get back.

I've not played any games yet, set it all up first then enjoy my gaming :p

I'm never too busy playing games

I will download the applications tonight/tomorrow and start monitoring everything.

In BIOS it is reporting the following temperatures:

CPU: 40-50
MB: ~40

Motherboard seems a tad high to me :(

I only have two fans that I am using with the case at the moment. One at the front of the PC and one at the back. I think I will be needing another one at the front and one at the bottom of the case by the PSU to push the air up (push/pull).

nah temps sound ok
best to monitor them in windows tho bcos thats when all the drivers kick in

once see its all stable then can do a little overclocking
you liking the case etc?

The case is amazing and a joy to work with.

It looks great too, it is very big compared to my Antec Sonata II.

Definitely recommended!

:)

It seems to be a common theme with this board, but a BIOS update does seem to be fixing it for people.

I ended up buying another soundcard as I thought the one I originally had was faulty.

I guess i'll just have to post it back now lol! :p

And the wait was worth it!!!

:D :D :D

geez u actually did cable management!
im disappointed in you

jk looks great, you went for the best parts in the end
only one little bit advice which u prolly dont need but ill give it anyway :) make sure nothing pulling on them sata cables, whole heap of problems if they come a little bit loose

I tried not to go for the best but then just got sucked in lol! :P

Yeap, I have left enough room for those SATA cables I believe :)

If you need fan recommendations:
The fractal makes one hell of a NOISE when put at the TOP of the case.
I got 2x Corsair AF120's - they run at around 900rpm on full load, max being 1100 rpm.
They are SUPER quiet and are very nice - only downside is that they are 120mm not 140mm

Thanks for the recommendations.

I will look at a few over the weekend and order two :)

Posted a picture in the Case Gallery and have been advised to rotate the CPU Cooler 180 degrees as its currently setup incorrectly.

Mean's reseating CPU Cooler and taking out a few components but nothing too major :)
