Spec Check Please?

Nearly all fans I have used have a pair if arrows molded into the side of the frame showing direction of rotation and direction of airflow.

I'm at work at the moment so will have to check when I get home...I am guessing the direction of the arrows is pointing to the right.

What would you advise if the above proves to be true?

An update, I did not have to remount the CPU Cooler which was good, I just turned around the fans and now the arrows on the fans are pointing to the left which I now believe is correct.

I will post up a picture soon :)

If you need fan recommendations:
The fractal makes one hell of a NOISE when put at the TOP of the case.
I got 2x Corsair AF120's - they run at around 900rpm on full load, max being 1100 rpm.
They are SUPER quiet and are very nice - only downside is that they are 120mm not 140mm

TD, I agree, when I put the fans on top speed, the PC makes a lot of noise. When I put the fans on the lowest settings, I cannot even hear the PC.

I will be getting new fans.

Where have you got your 2xCorsair AF120's? Are they both located at the front?

Have you left the default fan at the back of the case untouched? Or have you replaced that too?

With regards to your Fan Controller on the case, which fans in the case have you got plugged into the controller?

Is your CPU Cooler plugged into the motherboard directly or into the fan controller?

Bro, i suggest you wait till the end of the week, as I'll be getting in the af140s instead.
I'm going to return the af120s, as they don't fill the whole fan space, as they are 120mm, whilst the holes are 140mm.

As for fan controller:
Only the fractals are on it, thus the front two are.
For the time being that is.

Cpu cooler is plugged into the motherboard.

Other fan etc I'm not sure myself at the moment, but i got:
2x fractal at the front as intake.
1x corsair at the top as out
And my 2x antec at the back.

I'm contemplating having another one on the side as intake. And maybe flipping my top one to an outtake.

Been asking on the forums...And haven't gotten far. I'll ask elsewhere.

I was thinking of taking out all of the Fractual fans and replacing them with quieter ones e.g. the Corsair AF140.

I'm not saying the PC is not quiet because at 5V and 7V on the Fan Controller, I cannot really hear the PC.

It's only when I put it on 11V that I can hear the fans.

My thinking was to put 2 x Corsair AF140 at the front as Intake.

Then to put 1 x 140mm fan at the bottom of the case with the air pushing up.

Then to put 1 x 140mm fan at the back of the case to take the air all out.

Am I going OTT or?

That sounds good to me - but I'm not very confident in giving advice about fan and air flow.
All I can say is, not to conflict air flow, by having two fans counter each other.
As for getting rid of the fractals - well I'm on 12v (not 11v :P) but seeing as they are in the front I can't hear them at all.
Of course I can go super quiet, but my antec and even my mini fans ont he z77 make more noise than it.

I could add 2 x AF140 at the front, and take the Fractual fan at the top front and move it to the bottom of the case pushing air up.

That would be fine but i'm looking for advice with regards to the fans that I already have, and which new fans I need.

Would someone be able to advise please? :)

Well at least that's my reasoning.
Anything under 12v is ok on the metal grills, however a af140 doesn't have that problem.
The reason why, in my opinion is because there is no spacing in between the fan and the grill on the fractals.
Whereas with the af120s for example there is an extra rubber material in between.

I will disconnect the fan at the back, and put the fan controller to the highest speed and then see how much I can hear the fans :)

ugly!
haha cool u didnt have to remount
u installed any temp monitor stuff yet?
afterburner will rly help u tune ur gfx card volume, thats usually the loudest thing

Which is the best software to monitor all fans, speeds, temperatures etc?

I tried to install MSI Afterburner however, because I have Windows 8, it doesn't work properly as I cannot launch the application :(

Need to sort that out tonight and find out what the root cause is, it could be my graphics drivers, not sure yet

dam rly? i will have to try it on windows8 too to test
you remember the error msg? or was it pretty generic

coretemp and afterburner i use
gpuz will monitor but doesnt have the fan control of afterburner

Error message was "failed to initialize display driver wrapper".

you could try evga precision
its pretty similar to afterburner
but i think u r right and its a driver error hmhm

i was running windows8 on my gaming machine few months back all was cool, tho they could have messed somethin up ><

Check and let me know how you get on, would be good to know where the issue is.

Which Graphics card do you have btw?

An update to post #193.

Pictures of my case with the CPU Cooler/Fans pointing the correct way :D

BLOODY HELL! that cooler is a BEAST haha
Here's my suggestion:
Move your HDDs and SSD to the lower rack, and remove that top rack -> you'll have better air flow through the case from the front.

And yeah man - I'll try it now :D!

It works the same way because I will have a fan at the front of the case but at the lower level, air will blow in, then I will have a fan by the PSU push air up.

Plus, i've done all the wiring now and don't fancy changing them for a few degrees :p
