So what if I got him to save for the card so he can have a £500 budget on the PC. Still he wants the xonar. Can anyone spec me now please?

Is windows 8 good though as vista was bad. I reckon I could save money and get 7

EDIT: Does anyone else agree on this spec. I think the pentium is outdated. Would an amd APU be better.

Well if you are ordering from OcUK (I am assuming you are) then Windows 7 costs £2 more I think. I haven't used 8, but going by what I have heard/seen I prefer 7. I put Windows 8 in there, but it's up to your mate and what his preference is.

If you remove shipping and swap the ram for 8gb teamgroup elite you can get an I3 3220.

Putting shipping aside, I'd say CPU as RAM is easier and more affordable to upgrade than the CPU.

Doesnt have extra cores. Has HT though.

They're both dual core, but the I3's hyperthreading should help.
