Spec me a coat

Whilst unfortunately Canada Goose has become a chav brand in recent years. I can say the material and build quality is second to none.

I bought a CG jacket (wind stopper, no feathers) and it's as good as it was 5 years a go. £350 mind.

If I didn't have a northface goose down jacket (cost me £250) already, I'd likely buy a Canada Goose one. Even though 16 year olds walk around in them (some fake some not).

Lots of dubious reviews on their site ATM.

Oh really? Tbh I haven't looked at them in the last few years. Perhaps the increased demand has dropped their quality.

There is now likely the quality line for people that need their coats in the arctic, and the cheap production line for those everywhere else.

A quick glance yesterday was mostly rich folk wearing them around the city sad that the seams show signs of wear after 4 years.

Was looking at helly Hanson parkas, no idea how good but want something highly waterproof warm light and breathable ,the jack wolfskin is also possible for <£200

Serious answer for once, I am on my second M&S overcoat and it's the best item of clothing I've ever bought. It's the silver lining to every winter, I've yet to find anything else that comes even close, and I've had some pretty asspensiff coats:

Dropped on a Roy Robson cashmere overcoat not long back, new and with tags, for £10 from Dougie Macs. Bargain.

I would guess most Canada goose jackets you see in public are fake in the UK, given the prevalence and the true price.

Barbour gets my vote

your better off with layers .. merino base ware .. t shirt jumper/ thin hoody .. wind and waterproof over jacket .. do it all for less than £300

£300 for a coat?
Jaw drop! Mind you, I'm a stingy old fart who thinks £50 for a winter jacket is a rip off. Me and my wallet definitely do not like this century. :)

Totally agree pal. My winter jacket this year is a 3/4 length hi-viz bomber jacket that cost me £40 inc P&P and it makes me sweat like a rotting pig coz it's not even "breathable". I bet I could sleep outside overnight in this jacket and not even get the sniffles.

I went for the orange/black combo instead of the cheesy yellow coz I think it makes me look trendy in the world of cheapskates (lol) but the matching waterproof hi-viz trousers have proven to be a step too far coz I think everyone sees me as a refuse collecter/binman now :D
