Ok Im going to be selling my Yaris very soon, well maybe the next few months as soon as my house is sold. Im looking for a hatchback derv. Not that bothered how old it is as long as the mileage isnt over 110k. Obviously a newer car I would like it to be a lot lower.

Ive got £2-3k tops and cant really be a high insurance group so anything 12 or below. Im not overly bothered how fast it is, as long as it has a punch. So anything with 150lbs ft or torque is good.

So far Ive been thinking of getting another 306dturbo anyone got any other ideas?

So you'd have a 1993 306 diesel as long as it has 80k on the clock but you'd scoff at a 2003 Leon TDI with 120k?

Let him get the 306 to be honest. At that price, would the Leon even be worth looking at?

Why does it need to be a hatchback? All the benefits of the Leon but for half the price. The boot's huge, so unless you've got a dog or something, there's very little benefit

I dont really need the boot space and I know how big it is. Plus its a bit to big for me thats why I want a hatchback.

Because I need something a bit more economical and Im getting bored of it. The things I want to do to it to make it better cost so much its not really worth it unless I was going to keep it for a few more years which Im not. Dont get me wrong its a good car, not to everyones taste but its like a Saxo VTR but built better and more reliable. Its time to move on and seem as I need something thats going to cost me less a derv is the way forward.

Its 30cm longer than a Leon and identical in every way

Just admit it, a saloon doesnt fit with your image...

If I was after a saloon I would probably get an Accord Type R or Type S. I just after a hatchback cause I have no need for a saloon at this point in my life.

Ive not made up my mind thats why Im on here. Theres just no need for a saloon.

theres no need for a car with 150lb/ft of torque either, but you want one.

Im not saying your wrong to want one, but making a point that since when has car purchase been based upon what you actually need ?

There might not be a need, but that's what a lot of people think and is why they are such good value for money

Well its come that point where I need a car thats does good mpg, has a nice amount of power, cheap to run, good looking, and the biggest thing that needs to fit in the boot is food shopping bags. A Toledo is too big for me and Id probably forget its got a boot on the back and hit someone. Any saloon at the moment is too big for me.

A Yaris uneconomical?... does not compute....

Oh unless you get the hdi version of the 306 i can't see the td being any better
