Spec me a game with emotion / story

Dark Souls - It WILL get emotional :p
I really enjoyed Telltale's Walking dead. Haven't played season 2 yet, but have it sitting in my Steam account with all the other 'Grabbed in a sale, not played yet' games :)

The Walking dead, the last of us and Bioshock Infinite are the only games that have made me care about the characters. Odd that its all young girls . I guess it triggers some sort of protective nature in my brain or something. I almost couldnt keep playing as I didnt want anything bad to happen to them lol.

Zelda Ocarina of time
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 8
FInal Fantasy 9
Final Fantasy 10
The last of us
Shadow of the Colossus
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Heavy rain

Thanks peeps for bringing my attention to 'Brothers' and 'This War Mine'...Going to grab these tonight after reading all the positive reviews!

No. It is single player Co op... It is the best way of describing it! You control one brother with the left analogue stick and the other brother with the right one. It works beautifully!

Thanks. I've avoided watching videos and reading too much on it in case I spoil anything for when I actually play.

How old is your son? Wondering whether it would be good to play with my boy - he's only 5. Is it actually a co-op game?

My son was 7 when we played it last year, its a good co-op he used the arrow keys I used WASD, it has some kinda scary bits. I don't want to ruin the story for you though.

Some fun puzzles which we both found hard until we figured it out.

Also there is a couple of death scenes in there that I had to explain - just an FYI incase you haven't covered that subject yet bud.

Knight of the Old Republic
Planescape Torment (and so hopefully Torment: Tides of Numenara)
Broken Sword
and away from PC
Uncharted 1, 2 & 3

MrsSeabscuit loves Dreamfall, rates that very highly

Dammit -- I was making a list and IE's farting about so I ended up losing it.

So I'll just add a +1 for To The Moon.

I haven't broken down so badly at the end of a game in my LIFE. If you're after an absorbing, affecting story then you need to play that game. In fact, I may have a spare key for it lying around if you'd like it.

As others have said, though... be warned, the gameplay elements are very sparse -- it's essentially an interactive storybook/film -- but it's beautifully told, excellently paced and intimately emotional. Even hearing the soundtrack nowadays is nearly enough to set me off, thinking about the intricacies of the story and how it all fits into place.

And, of course... Planescape: Torment -- available on GoG if you've never had the pleasure and don't mind doing a lot of reading during your games. But let's face it, if you're looking for absorbing narrative, chances are you don't have a problem with reading.
