A few years ago, I got rid of my suitcase as it weighed 6.5kg empty. Not bothered replacing it and foreign holidays since, I took one one my parents’ Samsonite ones.

Next year, we are all going on holiday abroad together, so I need a suitcase of my own.

Samsonite are still selling the same suitcases as my parents use. https://www.goplaces.co.uk/products...wheel-spinner-suitcase?variant=39586760753232

Should I stick to the same suitcase or go for something different?

My requirements are:
. Hard case
. No zip to main compartment
. Spinner wheels
. Combination lock
. Budget £300 (my parents will buy this for me)
. Weighs 4.5kg or less
. Similar size to one in above link.

Not fussed what colour it is, not white or yellow.

If you're going away for a week or less, you might want to check ryanair/easyjet cabin bag max sizes and spec for that instead. Saves buying an extra case if you fly with them...

I'm 6'4ish and had enough space in that size case for 5 days, and had space to spare.

EJ make you pay for a cabin bag now lol... may as well just buy hold luggage.

if your going cabin only just take a backpack, i've seen people go on with those huge hiking ones that hold like 100litres

I paid a fair bit of money around 15 years ago for an Eaglecreek case with the No Matter What Guarantee policy (will be repaired or replaced FOC for however long I have it).

The No Matter What™ Warranty covers the product…. no matter what! We have the right to repair or replace products at our discretion... but we're very generous. We've replaced bags marred by tigers and ran over by planes. Because our gear is built to withstand anything, we make sure it does.” Dan Cochran, Warranty Manager

So far it's been through multiple airports and at one point, I watched it fall off the little cart on its way to the aircraft and skid along the concrete... Hardly a mark on it after that.

The wear point are starting to show now and a couple of the plastic covers on the metal zipper handles have broken off (just covers, metal underneath) but it's done me proud in the last 15 years.

Jesus Christ.
Lol.

Get cheapest leightest thing there is in Asda or Argos.
Never in your life is spending that much gonna be worth it.
Anything valuable goes in the cabin with. You.
If they scan your bag and want to pop it open tuff cookies on that too.

Yeah, but cabin bags save you waiting at The Carousel Of Desperation!

Yep, and I've seen people get pulled by ryanair and easyjet on those, told they have to go in the hold and get charged an additional fee for that, so no thanks.

Some old lady was bitterly arguing with easyjet cabin crew on Tuesday night as I got on my flight at Madrid about exactly this.

anytime I went with EJ they were always late at check in so a mad rush to get everyone boarded and didn't really care.
I guess it depends what route you fly on, personally I always took a 30l backpack which held enough clothes for like 3 days + 5 days underwear. also fits under the seat.

Used to love it when the plane got diverted from Geneva > Zurich saved me about an hour on the train :D

Had absolute karens raging that I'm selfish for wanting to get off and I'm holding all the passengers up.... too stupid to understand it takes 10seconds for me to get off an about 30mins for the plane to refuel....

£189 for a suitcase!
Seen £5k for one.

With suitcases, you get what you pay. Friend bought a £24 one from B&M and zip broke and lining of outer pocket fell to bits.

This suitcase is to last. My parents’ previous Samsonites lasted 20 years. Survived 4 hours of hail when driving to St Malo to get ferry home (suitcases on roof rack) Upgraded to spinners.

Aren't you a grown man, why are your parents buying you £300 suitcases?

Despite a direct question to cheesefest as to their gender receiving no reply my careful reading of their posts strongly suggests cheesefest is female. Or at least wears female clothes, for whatever that may mean these days :)
