Spec me a suitcase for hold luggage

Got a set of hideous lime green Samsonite two wheel drag along hard cases that my SIL gave us 20 years ago that the baggage handlers on 4 continents have tried to break and failed dismally.

The best thing about them? You can spot them across a crowded baggage hall as they really stand out from all the black and grey cases everyone else uses.

I use hold luggage as those travel sized toiletries aren’t enough for two showers a day. Plus sun tan lotion is very expensive abroad. Got Aldi’s sun tan lotion for about £4.25. Saw the same one in Aldi Valencia and it was €11.79 - almost 3 times more expensive.

You may say get the toiletries past security. Run the risk of not having enough time if security is bloody slow and long. Or like me have to use certain brands due to allergies. May not have them in Boots, Superdrug past security

£300?

lol, when the wheel came stuck during my trip out to Singapore last year, that suitcase was £50 from TKmaxx which lasted 8 years...I replaced it with one I bought from a local shopping mall for £75.

I can spot that a mile off.

The longest ive ever waited at a carousel is about 5 mins.

Maybe I've just been very lucky.

That's lucky, one time mine was the very last one to arrive, so late I almost went to the lost and found counter. I was pretty much the last person there. I'd say 75% of the time I get it within 15mins.

anytime I went with EJ they were always late at check in so a mad rush to get everyone boarded and didn't really care.
I guess it depends what route you fly on, personally I always took a 30l backpack which held enough clothes for like 3 days + 5 days underwear. also fits under the seat.

Used to love it when the plane got diverted from Geneva > Zurich saved me about an hour on the train :D

Had absolute karens raging that I'm selfish for wanting to get off and I'm holding all the passengers up.... too stupid to understand it takes 10seconds for me to get off an about 30mins for the plane to refuel....
Yeah, but cabin bags save you waiting at The Carousel Of Desperation!

Yep, and I've seen people get pulled by ryanair and easyjet on those, told they have to go in the hold and get charged an additional fee for that, so no thanks.

Some old lady was bitterly arguing with easyjet cabin crew on Tuesday night as I got on my flight at Madrid about exactly this.
Anyone who thinks that they have rights to put bags bigger than the airline specified dimensions should be banned from flying as these are the idiots who miss the slot for taking off.

Ah the classic "what happens if I poo myself" spare underwear. Odd thing us humans aren't we?

There are a couple great videos doing the rounds of people forcing their bags into the "size checker" device at the embarkment gate and they get stuck.

My favourite luggage experience was seeing a suitcase come out on the Carousel that had literally been ripped into pieces.

The owner was not happy and had a go at a baggage handler, who asked her "was it like that when you checked it in?"

To say she went bonkers is an understatement.

If you're going away for a week or less, you might want to check ryanair/easyjet cabin bag max sizes and spec for that instead. Saves buying an extra case if you fly with them...

I'm 6'4ish and had enough space in that size case for 5 days, and had space to spare.
Can concur with this, currently in Greece for my sister's wedding for a week. Didn't buy check-in, with jet2 you get free carry on as well as a "small personal item, that can fit under the seat". I've managed to fit 4 days of clothes, pair crocs, full formal wear for a wedding including extra shoes, extra belt, beach towel and the board game 7 wonders... All in the 10kg carry on. Also brought a backpack basically empty for day stuff but you could half fill it with more stuff under their allowances. Had I not had to carry wedding stuff I'd probably have 33% extra space

Saw on a luggage carousel a floorboard with 5-6 supermarket bags for life taped onto floorboard by handles then contents in the bags for life were in bags tied up.

Firstly how did the check in staff accept this and secondly, how did it survive being handled/thrown by baggage handlers. Never saw the owner.

You know it's 100ml per liquid, it doesn't have to be the 25ml bottles or whatever the travel ones are? :p

100ml of shower gel is fine for a week... or just stay in nicer hotels where it's provided? ;)

shower gel is for boys, real men use Hai Karate soap on a rope, no liquid limits required.

I now only use Away luggage (https://www.awaytravel.com/uk/en). Travel a lot for work (I've done 24 flights in the last 3 months) and always check baggage in and Away are one of the few brands I've found that survives the abuse; and even when things do break (I've broken zips and things trying to put too much stuff in) they've replaced whole suitcases no questions asked under their lifetime warranties.

A few years ago, I got rid of my suitcase as it weighed 6.5kg empty. Not bothered replacing it and foreign holidays since, I took one one my parents’ Samsonite ones.

Next year, we are all going on holiday abroad together, so I need a suitcase of my own.

Samsonite are still selling the same suitcases as my parents use. https://www.goplaces.co.uk/products...wheel-spinner-suitcase?variant=39586760753232

Should I stick to the same suitcase or go for something different?

My requirements are:
. Hard case
. No zip to main compartment
. Spinner wheels
. Combination lock
. Budget £300 (my parents will buy this for me)
. Weighs 4.5kg or less
. Similar size to one in above link.

Not fussed what colour it is, not white or yellow.
Why not use the one you've just used in Spain?
