Spec me an LED Torch

Any recommendations for a decent, single 18650 light? that isn't too expensive?

I'm probably going to get a MR70 for when I need more light, but my current light uses an 18650, but needs replacing (dodgy tail switch, and the emitter doesn't change modes anymore), so it would be nice if I could make use of the battery without it costing too much.

I’m also looking for a lantern.

I’ve seen Fenix do a rechargeable lantern, other than that there are some cheaper camping style one’s.

I’ve found a diffuser in the box for my Olight SR51 which fits over the front and provides a good spread of light so I don’t think I will bother with a lantern type now.

Just a heads up, looks like Olight no longer have RMA support in the UK so items would need to be posted back to China.

They did have a firm called Deben in the UK but looks like they no longer handle RMA for Olight.

What are your requirements?
  • Budget?
  • Most common purpose/range/duration of use?
  • Any other requirements - Tail switch again? Modes?
I rate my Jetbeam IIM...
I thought I'd post a heads up /micro review of the Jetbeam IIM I got for £19 delivered before Christmas. I've just had a look and it looks like you can get it for £22 right now.

This is a fairly common form factor - single 18650 cell light.

I bought it as a spare to have around the house, because, for £19, it seemed a good deal.

Having received the light, and used it, I'd change that assessment, and say it's an excellent deal.

Output seems as advertised, build quality is what I expected from Jetbeam (ie, on a par with Fenix and Nitecore), but, for me, the surprise was the functionality...

This has a tail button switch, and a flexible rotating locking mechanism that allows you to lock it on, off, and a few other things.

The light is protected, and single cell, so I'm happy using 3500mAh Sanyo cells for £6 a pop.

All in all, I'd say this adds up to a very good value set up that will exceed the requirements of most users.

Hope that's of use to someone.

Budget is around £20, use is general use, small enough to leave in my pocket for when I'm out in the dark etc, need to check the back of a cupboard at home etc.

I've just looked up the Jetbeam IIM, It's currently £20.56, and looks like it pretty much perfectly matches my needs, so I might have to grab one :)

My Rofis MR70 turned up today, for those that bought one and are looking for a spare battery my keeppower 26650's work fine (5200 & 6000 mAh).

Really like the sidelight on this.

Looking for a recommendation. After something that takes two 18650s (already have) and can have a super powerful focused beam. I had a similar one years ago but unfortunately i lost it. Looking to spend a bare minimum that gets me something silly powerful.
