Spec me an rpg

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines

Granted, the graphics are now pretty dated (early Source engine) but its a cracking game, loads of action and storyline. Almost completed it again for the umpteenth time, this time with a difficulty mod making it a LOT harder :D

I'd also say this game and most likely fallout 3, oh and mass effect. Enjoyed all of them immensely and I'm not a big RPG fan either

is Bioshock classed as a RPG ?

Companies such as Steam and the type who do reviews appear to label it as an RPG and an FPS game because of it's RPG elements. I don't agree with it being an RPG, i found it more to be more like an FPS despite the fact you can loot like in KOTOR, but, i put it there because of what other people label it as.

For something rather different, take a look at King's Bounty: The Legend. RRP is down to £10 now and I found it a lot of fun when I bought it last year. I bought the sequel yesterday. The combat might not be what you're looking for, though.

oooh yes, this is a great game, the sequel is also a lot of fun.

You could try to pick uo a copy of Demon Stone. Set in a fantasy setting but very simplified and action oriented compared to the above. Might be more what you're looking for.

im with cutshaw on this 1. The witcher is an amazing rpg. very mature gameplay as there is no good or evil factions. sometimes youll be hitting yourself just to make a decision to advance the storyline

Another recommendation for Fallout 3. It does the auto-fighting hitpoint thing but its rubbish and I never used it. First few hours takes a while to get into but well worth it.

Not quite an RPG but good wandering about collecting stuff and having a half decent story would be the first STALKER game. I probably prefer Stalker to FO3.

Fallout 3 with expansion packs.

Hugely rewarding game. So much so that I felt a twinge of sadness last week when I finally "finished" it + DLC's.

Anyone got an opinion on Risen or Divinity 2?

Is the main quest for Risen longer than Oblivion? I love these type games but only for as long as the main quest lasts for, after that things seem to get a bit repetative for me. I played Two Worlds but got bored before i had done much of the main quest.

I liked the look of the dragon riding bit in Divinity, but I'm not sure how open it is, ie. if it's restricted to specific sections or if you have general access to a big **** off dragon to fly around on :D

Without trying to spoil anything but... you dont ride a dragon, its something a little different than that.

I played the demo but the saves are bugged.

Torchlight/Sacred/Titan's Quest are not proper RPGs.

They are hack n slash, loot based, grind fests.

Just because you level up doesn't mean there is any actual story-telling, decision making, or character development.
