Spec me an rpg

Torchlight/Sacred/Titan's Quest are not proper RPGs.

They are hack n slash, loot based, grind fests.

Just because you level up doesn't mean there is any actual story-telling, decision making, or character development.

Yeah but they're closer to what the OP is looking for by the sound of things.

Elder scrolls 4 oblivion/shivering isles with mods? The game itself is good, but with a decent mod pack it is absolutely awesome! Enormous game worlds and LOTS of stuff to do, and that's only the vanilla game. Flyable dragons (mod), your own castle, enormous lairs underneath the magicians tower etc, swallowed up my life for a good while that game did. For some weird reason there are no toilets in game though =/

this, with good mods (tesnexus.com) it's my 2nd favourite game of all time.

As in title, I'm after something that has a bit of a story to it, and something with good graphics to keep me entertained. I gave DAO a shot, but found it a bit too complex for an uninitiated rpg player like myself, so something more like fable 2 in terms of simplicity please! I like the idea of running around hacking things up and levelling up characters, but not the idea of working out hitpoints etc. Does anyone have anything that springs to mind? Cheers!
Mass effect 1 and 2 fits the bill.

Anyone see Divinity 2 cheap anywhere? Mate of mine really enjoyed it.

I bought it for £9.98 last week in my local GAME. Odd price.

So I bought Torchlight and King's Bounty: Armoured Princess(*) as well because they were in the £25 for 2 range and Divinity 2 was cheap.

Then Fallout 3, Baldur's Gate 2 (again), Temple of Elemental Evil, Neverwinter Nights 2 (I missed that first time round), GRID and Prey at CEX.

I browse-buy a lot.

* Which wins my personal award for the most ridiculous cover art. A woman in a platemail push-up bra and platemail knickers casually wielding a sword taller than she is in one hand is ridiculous enough, but the name of the game makes that image even more ridiculous.

.97 and .98 are EOL and clearance prices. Usually as good indicator that the price will fall slowly over time (wednesdays usually at the indian food store I work at), but after a certain amount of time they get written off so getting timing right is key. I suggest hiding it in the store somewhere for a month or two (so it doesn't get sold) then buying that shiznit on the cheap!

Is there an essential Mod-Pack for Oblivion? I hated it and found it boring and repetitive with the Oblivion worlds first time around...

At rage3d forums is a guy named Pahcrd or something who put together a HUGE mod pack of all the necessary mods for the game.I seem to remember he's put it for download somewhere but it's password protected.Just go over the forums at Rage and send him a pm?He's only password protecting it because he had lots of troubles with modders who didn't want him to use their mods.

Be prepared though,it seems the whole package is in total 14GB:eek:

Speaking of Fallout 3, the GOTY edition is on sale at an Amazon game seller, £11.20 inc delivery :). Already have Fallout 3 here, but never got around to playing the official addons, seems a lot cheaper to buy the GOTY edition than to get them separately.

Morrowind..........

Then maybe fallout 3 if you ever get chance :)

morrowind with the expansion packs is utterly superb. Lost many a college year playing through it trying to get the most out of the game! I loved the texturing and model ideas for the game as a lot of the buildings where hollowed our giant insects or very large flowers etc instead of your boring bland castles etc.

I loved the way the dialog constantly changed throughout the game, even in the older content if you did something massive in one of the expansions.

For example - spoiler!

I spent around 3 days trying to kill a guard who had deserted the god in the first expansion. He had fully enchanted armour giving massive stat boosts. After I finally did it (took about 40 mins of fighting lol), I equiped the full lot, and took out a room with a few of them protecting the god, then killed her as well :D

Even with all that under mybelt and the dialog changing to god slayer style quotes, I still got my backside handed to me in the starting zone of the 2nd expansion haha.

You'd literally have to spend a good year or two if you wanted to see the entire game, and thats without mods, just the game and its expansions. Superb game and I enjoyed it more than oblivion.

Probably my best game of all time as well.
