Spec me some speakers

I have a Logitech 2 speaker system with a sub, and it sounds very good. Obviously if I placed it in a big room it would probably suffer, but it's good for my machine.

General use means movies gaming and some music just not as a main sound system for music.
They are worth £70 not saying they aren't but when you are paying £116 and you want a good setup for music surely it's better to get an amp and speakers.

yeah but most people don't care that much about music sound quality, and most people couldn't tell without an AB test.

You would care, once you hear a proper system going. Can you tell the difference between your Aego M and a pair of £10 PC speakers? Can you go back to those £10 PC speakers?

I have heard a propper hifi system, and I used cheap old crappy PC speakers before my Ms and i could tell the difference, I could happily go back though.

learn to answer the posts then

You really are one of the most annoying posters on this board. The fact is that most "PC speakers", specifically those aimed toward gamers, lack midrange making them inappropriate for most uses--well, y'know, except windows sounds. :p

Once you hear a proper full-range system it's very difficult to appreciate the poor sound quality output by these systems. In fact, the sheer lack of midrange and mid-bass makes them almost unbearable for music listening, especially rock music, which relies on this frequency range. The same goes for listening to movies/games through these sort of speakers systems: usually the extremes (well, actually, not the extremes but usually either end, nevertheless as most of these systems aren't capable of playing the extremes with any real volume/clarity) of the sound frequency spectrum are emphasised making for boomy bass, piercing highs and a real lack of midrange. All in all resulting in a very poor audio experience.

Sorry but you seem very ignorant, and adamant in reinforcing your flawed argument in order to justify your purchase of one of these "PC speaker" systems.

Yes, some people may well feel that they suffice for their needs, but they really pale in comparison to a setup which can play the full range of frequencies which, in reality, doesn't need to cost much more if anything at all.

sorry to be a pain, but for music you cant really beat a set of book shelfs and an amp.

better than any PC speakers if you ask me.. as said.. statlite and subs are okay for some things but not music.

with music i think you want all of the sound to come from one speaker so you get the full range in once place not split over 2 as you would with 2.1's

I dislike my Z-5500 for Music (Compared to Sennheiser HD595's) but for my console gaming and movies they do the job nicely. Plus I didn't have the budget for amp + 5 speakers and subwoofer. :)

The Z-5500 doesn't half boom when playing Music though. :\

I've heard "propper audio systems" thanks.

you appear not to have listened to the aego m's, maybe your ignorant?

and find me a better NEW audio solution better than the aego m's and you can have a cookie.

These, or did you mean loudspeakers? I'm assuming you mean cheaper than the Aegos, too, right? Don't you find the Aegos have a recessed midrange?

loud speakers, there not really cheaper when you have more than one person anyway.

and yes i know as a 2.1 system with sats the mid range isn't as good as book shelves, but compared with other 2.1 pc speakers systems it isn't that bad tbh.

Aego do make some high quality expensive Hi Fi equipment and are probably the best 2.1 out there for pc.I think the sensible opinion though is that nobody should be looking at pc speakers really for music especially rock unless on a tight budget, but if they do then the aego are probably the best.

It really just comes down to the price it's not too hard to get an amp and quality bookshelf for much more than £100.The only problem is that maybe some people are put off buying second hand or just cant be bothered but in the long run it's probably well worth the hassle.
