spec me your ultimate future tech

I can't wait for some new break-through in cheap REALLY GOOD batteries - that can't be too far off now surely? Things have been using AA type batteries and even lithium ones for ages now. There must be something better on the way, I'm fed up charging things.

watch to tell the time
mobile phone to communicate
gps for your car (now in some mobiles)
mp3 player for your music
external hard drives for data storage
If we get better batteries and physically smaller, cheaper large storage, that can't be far off.

You can get mobiles now that communicate, have a clock, play mp3s, videos and have GPS.

Actually, if we get some sort of national superfast wireless internet going on, you wouldn't even need the portable storage, you'd be able to stream anything from anywhere.

I don't have a watch and don't need a GPS - I just use my ipod and phone - as long as you have some idea where you are, google maps will suffice for navigation. Part of the reason i have a touch and phone is battery life, if batteries lasted forever, I'd probably have got an iphone to do all that stuff.

I'd want to see longer lasting batteries that don't degrade in performance as quickly (if at all) as you recharge them.

Would be great if we could harness a new sort of energy source so that everyone on Earth can benefit, and it could be used up in space as well.

I'd also love to see man conquer space on a large scale.

Problem with that at the moment is the reassembling of your atoms at the other end...

I think that ignoring the technology one of the biggest issues with teleportation would be the social problems it would cause.
All of a sudden roads and railways would become obsolete, the very concept of cities and towns that we currently have wouldn't exist as you could live anywhere in the world and still get to anywhere else at a moments notice.
Crime would likely rocket as you could simply teleport somewhere, commit your crime and disappear again.

To be honest if we could teleport people we could also likely replicate objects of our choosing, which would pretty much devastate all industry in the world too.

i cant help but think the world will be a horrible place to live in come that time... thats if we still exist by then

Transporters like those in Star Trek no more queing at the airport would be cool.
A way to go back in time to be able to view whats happening but not be seen, harmed etc. Would be great for history reasons.
Space travel for the people.

personally i think the world saving technology would be nuclear fusion, stupidly cheap endless supply of non polluting energy is just what we need tbh

^ of course im only beleaving what ive been told there so perhaps it isnt cheap/nonpoluting?

I would like to see technology to digitise people so that we can all live forever in a massive world/space wide computer network.

Something along the lines of This is what I imagine.

yep lol but saying that look at what your using at the moment:

watch to tell the time
mobile phone to communicate
gps for your car (now in some mobiles)
mp3 player for your music
external hard drives for data storage

Actually, my phone does all of that in one device.

Vario-III. Main screen has a decent sized clock on, it's (obviously) a phone, it's got built-in GPS, it's got HSDPA ludicrously fast internet (for a phone), a mini-SDHC slot (I've got 6GB, the spec is up to 32) so I can store data and music (and films, and installed TomTom maps) on it.

Win :D

World changing inventions will be fusion power and AI. If we can get energy easily and have robots to do all the work for us we can just chill out or atleast all the crap jobs would go to robots and we would all become "managers".

Space travel and teleportation would be nice but unlikely for a long time.

In the nearer future I would like a computer built into me, within a few years we will have a device that can do everything a full sized PC can, we are pretty much there now and slowly the way we interact with it will change. OCZ have a device that reads your alpha and beta brainwaves and a load of other stuff. coming out this year!

no so if you are laying on the floor the car will just go over you without any possible damage. and children arent so much bigger than that so it gives them a slight chance too.

In that case, (for safety reason's) I'd suggest a height of 12-15 feet.

Teleportation would be cool.

I'd love to see oil/gas and other fossil fuels removed and replaced with something far more cleaner and efficient. Never happen since the oil companies control the world.

I'd like to see VR machines that put you inside the computer game, acting out the moves.

Removing rail based trains with maglev.

Removing planes with super fast trains.

Creating real enforceable boundaries which are strictly enforced to keep wildlife safe, wild and untouched from humans.

Improved space travel, so we can finally start working on the Moon and use the bacteria to transform Mars.

Governments run by the people and not the people being run by them. No more secrets, no more cloak and dagger and no more willy waving.

Personal one here, but force the dog food companies to produce real dog food and not the s*** they sell now.

Drug companies actively trying to save peoples lives by treating the problem and not treating the symptoms. The AIDS cure to be mass produced and disclosed so we can stop millions of people from dying. Cancer research funding exceeding military spending and corporate payouts to finally sort out this horrible epidemic.

Big supermarkets like Tesco actually making foods that's not full of crap and rubbish, not full of flavourings and food dyes. Disclosing what actually goes into there food, hows its made and only using British produced foods. Paying farmers more money for there work.

Could put more, but cba.
