My rig is FOUR years old and it still holds well compared to an i7 at stock.

If you want to last 4 years then you'll need a z68

if you didnt really need the features of a Z68, then i dont think you need the features of the Extreme6.
there's nothing wrong with P67s, the MSI p67a-gd53 wouldve been enough, but i suppose you like the bells and whistles

Meh ... I thought z68 was the best candidate for Ivy Bridge but after reading more, it appears that there's just as much chance of a P67 supporting it too *doh* my bad.

I got the Gd65 because with fan it came cheaper than what I had specced out at the time.

GD65 is good, and the cooler is also quite good. At least up to a usable overclock.
