Speccing a new PC!

fair point i assumed they meant the modules didnt fully disconnect, so thats the one to go for then?

So you guys overall would say all else i need is the cpu mounting plate and everything else is perfect?

Your choice really, the silverstone does seem to be "fully modular" It is your choice, 850W is an overkill for 1 video card 500W will do.

i prefer more power to allow for upgrades, better more than run into issues! think ill go with the XFX as its a bit more power for the money.

Now that parts decided, any other bits worth looking into or is the rest fine?

erm, If I was you I`d do this...

3770K setup

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £239.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £108.98
1 x GeIL EVO Leggera 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL316GB1866C10DC) £79.99
Total : £440.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Theres no need for overkill motherboard... I use 60 quid cheap giga mobo on my 2700k and I can overclock to 5ghz no problem

I mean really you can go for this,

YOUR BASKET
1 x intel core i7-3930k 3.20ghz (sandybridge-e) socket lga2011 processor - retail £459.95
1 x gigabyte x79-ud3 intel x79 (socket 2011) ddr3 motherboard £164.99
1 x geil evo leggera 16gb (2x8gb) ddr3 pc3-14900c10 1866mhz dual channel kit (gel316gb1866c10dc) £79.99
total : £716.33 (includes shipping : £9.50).

it would be over a litle from your current setup by about 60 quid but that cpu will definetly make difference in encoding ect... it has 6 cores and 12 threads... you could use msi motherboard it has 8 ram slots instead of 4..

but i would do reading before buying since i am not familair with x79

your basket
1 x msi x79a-gd45 (8d) intel x79 (socket 2011) ddr3 motherboard £153.98
total : £165.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Unless you go for this kind of route, I think you will be dissapointed, since 3770K will not be much better that what you currently have.

i can go a hundred over budget i think if it was for totally better tech, is that a good move then? i know nothing about the 6 core!

It wouldnt make a difference in gaming today thats why everyone picks up 3570K, since games barely can make use of 4 cores, editing and encoding should do.

yea im all about being future proof though, especially for only £60 or so, though those parts are so ugly and boring!

If you want future-proof I`d wait a little, till new line of Intel comes out.. Since 3930K are quite old and still use 32nm instead of 22nm which most intel processors are switching to... This means less heat and less need of Wattage.

getting confused now!

i dont want to wait for new CPU's as ive done that before and ended up with nothing, in my general PC usage the biggest upgrade i ever made was hard drive to SSD so i care little about these new architectures.

Its simple really, going for 3770K wouldnt benefit you much at all... Especially with 320 quid motherboard, it would cost you fortune and make very little difference performance wise... 3930K setup price wise isnt far off of your 3770K setup, but should be much more powerful and future proof.

ok, random requirement but is there a good mobo with 2 ethernet ports?

Something like this work?
