SPECTRE Bond24 discussion [Please use spoiler tags when discussing the plot]

Really disappointed with this. It just feels like they almost accidentally made Casino Royale which was BRILLIANT and have been struggling to match it every since.

The pacing was terrible, the middle was so long and boring I was actually desperate for it to end.

Won't disagree with that!!

I just don't find DC a very good bond. I've been watching all the previous films from Dr No to QOS, just finished Moonraker, and they are fantastic. DC just doesn't have the same appeal or mannerisms the previous bonds had. He just looks awkward!

I never understand the love for the old Bonds, Connery, Moore etc they were all absolutely god awful. Not in an acting sense as obviously they are superb actors, but the Bonds back then were cringe worthy and terrible to watch.

I can't sit through a Bond film pre-Goldeneye as they just bore the pants off me. Craig is a fantastic Bond, made Bond more gritty and more modern. I'll be gutted when he goes, especially given all the speculation about the potential successor

Most old bonds are rubbish. The bond character is nothing like he should be based on the portrayal in the books. Connery is ok, Moore is dire, Dalton is good, Lazenby is rubbish, Brosnan is good in Goldeneye but then the rest of his films are rubbish.

Bad:
Waltz underutilised

I totally agree with this. The whole SPECTRE organisation was rather glossed over. I think this is rather owed to the fact that there wasn't really a story to the whole thing, other than
"Blofeld is bad, Bond must fight Blofeld, the end".

I thought the Blofeld reveal was mishandled. Obviously anyone who knows anything about Bond knows that Blofeld is the boss of Spectre, so obviously Oberhauser must be Blofeld, but you chug through the film with them talking about Oberhauser Oberhauser Oberhauser and then he just throws it into conversation during the torture scene saying "LOL, I'm Blofeld" and that's it.

I've just edited the three previous posts to add spoiler tags. I had no idea about this, there's no mention of it anywhere else in the thread (unless it's already in spoiler tags) and I'm really quite annoyed that I saw it.

Please - THINK BEFORE YOU POST. Grrrrr.

Watched this on Wednesday and I'll echo others posts. I thought it was dire and considering it came off the back of Skyfall which I also thought was awful, that's a good as complement as I'll give it. Rehash, rehash, rehash, utterly forgettable. Perhaps the entire franchise is dead. Who knows?

I may be going against most opinions in here but I really enjoyed it :p
It had everything I would want & expect from a Bond film plus all the references to past plots, characters and props, loved it :)

Started really well, even managed to tolerate Sam Smith's song with those opening titles, got a bit slow in the middle and then picked up.

Did anyone else notice that it didn't say "James Bond will return" at the end? First time that's happened.

Just got back from watching this in Imax, Apart from the explosions I wouldn't bother paying the uplift or full price as it's not a film that makes the most use of it.

Boring in parts and some of the action scenes just felt bolted on to try pushing the film forward without any real meaning for them.

Shame Monica Bellucci wasn't in the film for longer, felt more like a cameo than an actual role.

All the villain deaths didn't have any real feeling to them, C's just felt silly and has to be up there for the worst Bond death ever.
