SPECTRE Bond24 discussion [Please use spoiler tags when discussing the plot]

A program on BBC last night had Paul Hollywood looking at the history of Aston Martin, and he got to have a drive in the DB10 they made specially for this Bond film (only 10 made and none to be sold)

What a beautiful car! :D

Writing's On The Wall by Sam Smith becomes the first James Bond theme to reach number one in the UK, knocking Justin Bieber off the top spot.
I despair for humanity.

That really bugs me. Personally I dislike the song and it seems many other people feel the same way. Yet this song reaches number one just because of who sings it?

My wife and I had a discussion the first time that we heard Sam Smith's song and my wife (an ex pro-singer herself) commented that his voice simply wasn’t right for it. He strains at the high parts and “where it would be haunting if a woman sang it, with him it just sounds off”. We then heard this woman sing it and it changes from a dodgy song to a beautiful one. Again my wife said “why would he write a song for himself that he can’t really sing?”

I heard this the day she put it on FB. Defo more suited to her, no idea how edited her voice is but it sounds lovely.

I don't know if it's just because the song is better suited for a woman's voice. Something just doesn't seem right, I also don't feel the lyrics from this.

Found it funny that its not only **** but it also knocked Beiber off the top. I hate to knock other people's music tastes but I can't stand Beiber and the way this got to the top is just so wrong.

That gives it so much more power in some bits - still not a big fan but that is 10x better.

Why do the BBC trot out these TV celeb type people to present program on something they have no connection with?... he's a TV chef ffs. Not that I've anything against him, but surely someone else would have been better? Though perhaps I should reserve judgement until I've seen it :o ... I guess its on iPlayer?

Yep!

Listening to the song against the backdrop of clips from the film in the video seems to make it fit well. Despite my reservations it does manage some moments of grandeur that are very Bond... the tears at the end make me puke though

All the snippets, both from this and the trailers looks amazing! I really have a feeling this might be the best Bond yet... there, I've cursed it now.

Draws in the bake off crowd and anyone who likes cars will watch it anyway. Win win for them. All about the ratings

According to Wikipedia, he's just taken up motor racing. With the Top Gear crew in disgrace, the BBC need someone.

I only flicked through it on iplayer yet - but didn't seem to bad from a quick glance - he didn't seem too out of place.

Just heard the theme song from beginning to end for the first time. It was ****. The way he screeches trying to hit those high notes and he is reckoned to be one of pops more talented singers! I have heard better karaoke efforts.

To add insult to injury aside from an all to brief orchestral segment the song just doesn't fit the bond theme.

The song just doesnt go anywhere or build to any sort of crescendo. It just sort of peters out like a wet fart.

I like it quite a lot, I'm not sure why, but it doesn't deserve the slating it's getting. Joe public must be too invested in the franchise and aren't open minded enough to accept something different from the Bond cliches and their preconceptions I think.

I thought I genuinely hated Sam Smith until I heard this.
