It'll beat your RX8 any time, any place so there.

You've heard of v6. v8... v10..... even v12 but my Micra is a 16v

my mondeo is a 24v beat that :p :D

Having driven a fiesta and a mondeo on the motorway i know which one i would rather use it and it isn't the fiesta :)

Shut it Aussie.

I was gonna go out tonight at about 2am and raz it in 5th on the downhill section of the M5 to get 120 but I really can't be bothered, I've got college at 9am tommorow but I swear down Im'a get that pic, I know it can be done.

As for those stats, WHAT A BEAST, 54bhp, there was me thinking it was 59 but it's still like twice as much as a Veyron. Bags of torque to boot, I can put my Micra in 5th at a standstill and with no accelerator drop the clutch and it won't even stall, it'll just wheelspin to 30mph and then sit at idle.

Seriously though the 0-60 and max speed are out, I assume Nissan do their testing with two people in the car or some other more "real life" way of testing, or just plain carp drivers.

I've timed 0-60 and I get anywhere between 13 and 13.5 seconds which is quite blistering, over 16 secs is a tad slow I must admit. I've had it to just over 110mph before so 93mph is tosh.

hahahahahahaha

havent you been listening?

110 on the speedo is probably a tad under a ton, small cars speedos get VERY inaccurate at high speed

13secs to 60? are you sure? if that was the case my car would be about 9 seconds, and the best i can manage is 12

some manufacturers to testing with the car full of stuff, peugeot do it with a passenger and a load of luggage, so i reckon i could hit 120, but i know my tyres arent rated to that and i'm not stupid enough to try it in a small french euroblob :D

look on your tyres, it'll say something like 175/65/14 H

whats the last letter? thats the speed rating

i cant believe the micra can hit 60 in 2nd - im willing to be proved wrong but i just dont believe it

and 60 in 2nd in an oil burner and not knowing it? al the oil burners ive been in have been at the 5k limiter SCREAMING at about 55

LOL.

Taking french build quality and electrics into account and also the drag co-efficent of all those rapidly falling off trim bits i figure your actual speed to be 87.7, too slow to go back to the future i'm affraid.

**** sake it's welcome day for next years new students at college, I wish they'd tell us if a lessons going to be cancelled, I waste so much petrol going in only to be told it's cancelled and coming home again.

I never actually said my BEAST can do 60 in second, it tops out on the redline at just past 40mph in second :)

Back on topic here, my Yoda will NEVER do 100, even if it was towed. I don't really feel safe in it at anything over 75. And it's got some of the best tyres money can buy on it.

Even new I wouldn't want to take it that fast.

My 2001 Neon now was entirely another story. That thing was as comfortable doing 115 as it was 60. And just as stable. My wife's 1995 Neon is good to about 90 and then it begins to feel a little off. Probably due to needing struts and shocks. My father had it at 120 a couple times. And he was FAR from foolish when it came to driving.

My RX-7 was perfectly stable all the way through 135mph. I wouldn't want to think what the P rated tyres were going through at that speed, but the rest of the car was all good with it.

My 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass was a complete nightmare at anything over 90. Mind you, it was riding on 225/70R15's and was in DIRE need of some suspension work. And the brakes weren't all up to snuff either. But saying that, it was the one car I felt comfortable doing 75-90 in as it was an absolute TANK, and anything it hit it would just plow through.

Newer cars are MUCH safer at speeds, but not too many of them I'd place my life on the line in as they are crumple zones through and through. I much prefer to have a thousand or so pounds of heavy steel in a frame under my arse to help protect me from pieces/parts of the car (engine) coming in to say "HI"!!

But that's just me. I still drive a 1/2 ton pickup truck. :D

Yes it is, but it was suggested the 0 - 60 times is 16s which is way out and that around the 13s mark was not possible.

The only thing the Micra is good for is the over 60's (as in age) ;)

I can't beleive that most of this thread has been taken up by a speeding shopping wagon!

Doing a 0-60 downhill could shave 3 seconds off no problem whatsoever.

but that is 0-60 on the speedo which isn't accurate get a G meter and time it on that I bet it comes out closer to 15 seconds and will be a lot more accurate. I'm gonna stick my G meter in the mondeo and see what that does book time is 8seconds :D

I disagree, my Micra happily cruises at 100 - 110 on the Motorway.

It's a bit shakey at that speed but it's no less safe than any other car, it's down to the drivers skill at the end of the day.

According to that pic you arn't even doing 100. More like 97 indicated which would be around 92-95 real speed)

As for the ops original question I feel much safer doing 90+ in my Furby vRS than I did doing 80+ in the Furby Sport I had(Or any car I hae had previously). The vRS feels more planted and has the added advatage of having much better / bigger brakes (discs all round for a start).

My dads Octy II feels even safer at speed (say 80+) than my furby which I think is simply down to the car being bigger and heavier.
