speeding, what am i likely to get

I got flashed by a truvelo camera (front facing) yesterday. I think I was doing between 85 to 95 mph in a 70/60mph zone. What am i likely to get?

i tohught no cameras flash face on to catch you.

you sure that you werent flashed by a gatso that was facing in your direction? if thats the case then you wont get anything

you need to be more specific

at the 2 extremes of your figures

85 in a 70 would be £60 and 3 points

95 in a 60 , something like a 28 day ban and £300 fine

I got flashed at midnight on Monday , thought it was very odd as the camera has been there for years and was only a red light camera ( lights were green ) , went back and they had changed the camera for a combined speed/red light camera

I was doing about 55-60 in a 50 so maybe I have a chance of a speed awareness course rather than points ( I hope )

Bare in mind this was years ago when I was a stupid teenager, I got caught doing 61 and still accelerating in a 30 and got £120 fine, £60 court costs (I think) and 28 day ban. Im tellin ya the fine was nothing compared to loosing my car for 28 days!

And I saw it flash once.

It was on the A21/A22 or similiar I was driving down to Eastbourne yesterday from London

yep thats a truvelo , apparanlty you can see a feint purple flash when they go off , never seen one flash myself though

Hoping for 3 points or 6 points but no ban. I'd jump at the chance at a speed awareness course if they offered one!!
Or if i am really lucky the camera had no film in it.

Thought they where digital and need no film??? might be wrong though

Most of them are digital now, but some film operated ones still remain, I dont know much about truvelo so I wouldnt know if this was the case, it is with gatso though.

Unlucky with getting caught, but is there a lesson here?

Out of intrest, what sort of time was it, what was the traffic like, and did you consider it safe to do those kind of speeds or did you just get carried away?

It's some sort of urban myth that Truvelos don't flash - they do, but not brightly. I think you have to be in it's line of fire (so to speak) to see it.

How on earth did you manage not to see it, and whizz past a big yellow speed camera at 90mph anyway?!?

it was around the corner/bend. Plus my tomtom did not pick it/warn me about it. It was about 7:30pm. Lightish traffic.

Ive seen a couple flash, they are definalty a purple flash, it was actually quite bright.
