Well the subwoofers are supposed to provide the bass not the other 6 speakers. Sounds like what is happenning is when a sound goes to the front left/right channels, the sound is also passed to the subwoofers and you get bass, but when a sound goes to the rears, for some reason it isn't passed to the subwoofers.
Dunno whether that's by design or a fault. It could even be something to do with the soundcard redirecting the bass to the bass channel (which the Medusas don't use). It's a while since I used my Medusas so I can't remember quite how they sound. I think the rears on mine were a little 'tinny' but not hugely so.
As the Medusa_USA guy is pointing out, the rears are smaller cones so that could explain why they don't go quite so deep.
