Spider-Man (PS4)

The water in the broad daylight is probably the most photo realistic I’ve seen in a game before. The lightning at times is stunning. Night time not so much (hdr could do with being more intense on the lights) but daytime is quite superb. Incredible screenshots from this game!

Another great example of how the PS4 pro punches well above its wait; stunning console with the right tv!!

Enjoyed it so far, 75% complete towards platinum in around 18/19 hours on Spectacular mode, my thoughts below.
  • Visually it is stunning (Pro and 65" HDR TV) but not as good as HZD though it will take something special to beat that.
  • Game play is smooth and satisfying both traveling and combat.
  • AI is relatively decent though I thought playing in hardest mode would have been more challenging, particularly when the AI doesn't become alarmed that his mate is missing and hanging from a lamp post moments after turning round.
  • Photo mode is incredible and very well detailed.
  • NYC is very well portrayed from my memory of two holidays there, the latest being early this year.
  • It does feel repetitive towards the end, anyone who has access to later district 'events' will understand.
  • That said the free roam crime fighting stuff coupled with the challenge token acquisition does offer a little variation.
  • Pigeons - pointless.
  • I bought it to play as spiderman. Enough said.
  • My two main gripes are, one mission (not playing as spiderman or MJ) was marred by the fact there was no sound. The characters voice just would not work. I am updated to current patch. 1.04 I think.
  • Second is that this is the first game I've had in years that has caused two hard lock ups of my PS4. First was during the opening of the skills tree and second was mid way through a base clearance.
  • Not a perfect game but enjoyable and very well made. Hopefully a couple of patches will fix my two minor issues with locking up.

After finding the Sanctum Sanctorum in game, I put Avengers Infinity War on and compared the surroundings.
Disappointed to say they don't match :(
The only similar thing is that the building is near a corner.

It can look very nice :D finding photo mode a bit addictive.

Can’t get away from the feeling that this plays like a poor imitation of Arkham Knight with worse graphics.

It’s a good game but odd that they haven’t been able to match, let alone improve on a 3 year old game.

Arkham knight has a grittier style to it for sure making for a complete different visual style imo. Game ran like poo mind ;)

The game is absolutely fantastic simple as that. I think a lot of people just look for flaws instead of just enjoying what is to me a masterpiece. Im really very happy with it. It looks really nice on my ks7000 and PS4 pro. And it plays just as good as it looks too.

We have the same set up and I agree it really shines. I agree the game is solid and way above average but it is far from perfect at the moment. I'd say it's an amazing first attempt by this studio. They have nailed the look and feel of the character and the city so it's an amazing place to build from. The side content is all that's letting it down really.

i hear it can be completed in 6 hours if you hardly touch side missions, glad i held off for awhile, maybe be able to get 2nd hand fairly soon if people are completing that quick

This game isn't in the marvel cinematic universe.

It's a bit like complaining that Gotham in Batman: Arkham Knight looks nothing like Gotham in Chris Nolans 'The Dark Knight'

Well, it has the Iron Spider suit in it, explain that :P

Of course I'm just messing. It's no biggie. Would have been cool if stuff matched :)

I was intending to do that but as soon as launch day hit I went out and got it thinking that once I'm done, I can turn it back round for £30-35 So same odds really if you think of it in reverse

Yeah, good thinking actually. Only problem is I’m not very good at games, so will take me a fair while to finish it. That will drop the resale value.
