Spiderman: Homecoming

Off to watch Saturday morning, bog standard 3d (doesn't cost me any extra) as I don't think it'll warrant an Imax viewing, the plot is all their in the trailer and the big set pieces have already been shown.

When I booked it said the run time was over 2 hours  can't understand why it's that long.

Wonder if they'll be any after credit scenes?

For what its supposed to be it did a very good job indeed. Has the same humour as deadpool, only aimed at a younger audience (spidey is 15 after all) so can seem a bit forced to an older viewer.

Keaton was actually really good in it, played ghe character well and did quite a subtle menacing personality. He rode the line between likeable and despiseable very well.

Storyline was fairly basic, but again this is probably due to it being the first in the reboot and for younger viewers.

Stark and happy were in it quite a lot, but instead of spoonfeeding spidey like it portrays in the trailers they were actually holding him back more than anything.

The thing i wasnt sure about is tom holland seemed to make parker feel kind of stupid/clumsy/absent minded. There were a lot of things where he seemed to lack comprehension of his actions, and was making seemingly bad choices where i would have expected him to be smarter.

Quite liked the look of what i presumed is the cinematic version of the iron spiderman suit though towards the end.

I'd give it a solid 8/10

That's surely part of the story, that Peter is lacking in understanding and made stupid decisions. They obviously were deliberate in trying to make him more teenage, which worked well I thought.

It was more of a fun film that a great film imo, the comedic bits were the best whereas the story was lacking a bit.

Agree that Keaton was good.

I'd give 7.5/10

The first one was pretty disappointing, but the second credit scene was genius IMO

can I ask you would give it a ? out of 10

So this is the film of the year that I've been mostly looking forward to as Spiderman is my favourite Marvel character and loved him in Civil War. Thought Tom Holland is probably the best out of him, Maguire and Garfield. That said he was nowhere near as strong/powerful as he should have been in this film going by how good he was in CW and now this is some months later so he knows what he's doing with his powers.

Michael Keaton was quality as Vulture and it was a great twist with him being that chick's Dad.

Now the bad points, Spiderman didn't get a single hit in on Vulture for the entire film. Yeah he flung his web at him but that's it. There was no final fight scene, it was just Spidey getting pummelled and then the chitauri
crystals exploded taking out Vulture and Spidey saves his life. Would have liked to have seen Spidey ground Vulture and kick the **** out of him a little bit.

Happy and Stark were keeping an eye on Spidey and there was this big threat of Vulture developing these weapons which could cause some major damage and they just left it to the FBI/Spidey. Iron Man could have taken him out in seconds and that would be the film over. I think Iron Man shouldn't have been in the film as much and that would have left it only to Spiderman to save the day. Ok Stark mentions it's below his paygrade but I just found that ridiculous.

As said in another post above. Parker was just a little too clumsy throughout the film but that's just a little fault I picked up on. You'd think with his powers he'd be much more confident.

There's probably more stuff as well but they are my main points.

Overall a 4/10 for me.

it was a creative decision for that ;)

I get that its good for him to grow into his powers and that he's not going to have the emotional understanding of an adult to grasp the full consequences of his actions. But he faced off against bucky and the rest of the avengers fairly solidly, yet the fight scenes in this kind of felt like he'd regressed into an uncoordinated and half useless guy just running around at times.

I did like the freakout when he got stuck though, there was something quite powerful in that scene. That and keaton opening the door was a good reveal :D

If you guys can leave notes, so can I. Its not breaking any rules. My point still stands, nothing i said was spoiler worthy. Spidey gets stuck and someone opens an unspecified door. Not ruining anything for anyone. - krisboats

Thanks for reminding me. So this is aimed at a younger audience yet they'll happy have a load of swearing in the film and talking about porn and obviously at the end "What the ****".

Christ I'm getting old :o

Don't go mentioning common sense behind creative license for a marvel film, peoples heads explode for stuff like that :P

It was ok.

Holland IMO is a better 'spiderman' and Keaton was excellent.

The film just seemed to lack something.....and I wish I knew what it was.

The 2nd ending credit scene was pretty funny though!

I would give it a 3/5. I did enjoy it but maybe my expectations were too high and I don't feel it was that 'spectacular' for a Marvel film, if you're expecting Avengers or CA:CW levels of action you may be disappointed. It did have good moments though and I'll definitely watch future films. Really liked the end of the movie and the final end credits scene too.

I'm surprised at how low some people have rated this, I went in with lower expectations having enjoyed Andrew Garfield's portrayal if the character but boy was I impressed with Holland.

Overall I think this was great movie, great re-introduction to the character, Michael Keaton was just fantastic and whole supporting case worked so well with a good use of Tony Stark :)

I honestly have it up there as one of my favourite superhero films of all time, 9/10 for me.

I saw this last night, great movie. Good balance of comedy and wise cracks by Peter Parker that translated much better than the last two incarnations of spidey. Solid 8/10 from me.

Just saw it 7/10

Was ok but I was nodding off at points. Felt a tiny bit too long. Excessive dark fight scenes. Felt a bit worse than Antman. Nowhere near as good as the main films.

Ending credit scene is indeed funny. I got it a lot faster than the 40 odd Swedish people that were there, obviously :P

Was ok, nothing really special happened and the main set piece had been spoiled in the trailer.

The last after credit scene was worth waiting 10 min for.
