It also stems from them not owning the X-men series and therefore not being allowed to use the word mutation.

The MCU has definitely refined a lot of powers to tech, but you still have Dr. Strange which involves magic and characters like 'Vision' which is AI mixed with an infinity stone.
Spiderman is not a mutant but an altered human in Marvel terms!

Finally watched this and thought it to be pretty good, definitely top half of the MCU films, I'd say a 7/10.

Another obvious reference to Deadpool:

When the kids are teasing Liz for having a crush on Spiderman, one says "What if he's all burned/scarred under that mask", which links to long-running joke of Deadpool and Spidey's costumes getting confused by people in the comics
