Spiders

We have loads of exotic ******* in our house. False windows, green fanged tube webs, woodlouse spiders (not exotic, just weird).... I try to let the cellar spiders live in peace so we can tag team all the scarier ones. They eat some, I nervously catch the others in a glass and throw them towards the neighbour's back door.

Agree spiders are rife here!

A couple of years back, wandered in from a night out, switched on the hall light to find a Green Huntsman sitting on the wall. Never seen one before! Took a couple of moments to register having had a beer or two!

Spiders are fascinating creatures but infuriating, window cleaner came last week; windows all clean, give it one day and webs are formed again. Apparently house polish is a good deterrent to stop webs being built, so I'm going to give it a go.

The only one's I am wary are false widows, they don't run away when you trap them and instead rear up! I have some in the garage and outside. Having said, in my garage, cellar spiders are rife and I think they are picking off the house/widows as I haven't seen any for a few weeks.

There was a spider living inside my wing mirror on the car. Every other day I destroy its web and hope that it learns through repetition that in fact a wing mirror is a silly place to spin a web but it is back the next day. I once saw it dangling by a survival line whilst driving one day so headed toward the motorway and watched that lifeline get long as it surfed the air before vanishing.

It's a dog eat dog world.

Always loads this time of year, mostly garden spiders. I’ve at least gotten rid of most of the false widows, especially those in my gym - basically by allowing all other spiders to live in there to outcompete them. To the extent where I rescued one that I mistakenly hoovered up and placed the little fella back into his home :p

In out house I just keep the window vents shut. I believe the cats do the rest, it’s rare that we see a spider since they’ve joined us.

Usually have them pretty bad, had a massive house spider waltz over my naked torso, but I was too tired to care and this is someone who has a decent amount of fear of them..

I tend to kill them but the one outside my window has done well at keeping other pests at bay.

I’ve had several big bois in my house this year. The kind where you’re not sure if it’s a mouse or a spider.

Got a fair few gangly ones too, which are cool and I don’t mind staying.

Just not keen on washing my hands and there being a fairly thicc one in the sink.

Why would you kill spiders?

Why can’t you pick them up and put them outside?
Fear = death.
Spiders trigger the fight or flight response like any other fears do.
