Spin Tyres demo: impressive off-road physics

Anyone here tried hardcore mode yet? It is absolutely heartbreaking. I was on Plains, which seemed like an easy map what with the lack of rivers and hills, and was hauling a garage trailer over the plain at speed since it was just open flat grass, when disaster struck. I got stuck on a hill. No matter, thought I, I have another C truck to haul it out. Turns out the plains are slow sinking mud, so while you can drive along just fine, if you stop you sink in. All 5 trucks stuck in there now.

Lmfao I need this game, sounds epic

Dear diary.. Today a truck carrying lumber was stuck just short of the lake/river *sniff* It got stuck on an embankment and toppled over.

We tried to winch it out to no avail, a good hour was lost. :(

I'm really tempted to get this after playing the demo for quite a while. Got a question though:

When I get my jeep stuck, I go to rescue it with the truck and push it out the mud, but the jeep's tyres are superglued to the ground. Is this fixed in the final release or can you not save your other vehicle?

I went and bought it, it is pretty good! I've gone and one of my trucks stuck but when I press change truck, nothing happens. I see a faint blue circle appear as if the truck i want to change to has to be within this circle... what is the point of that? If I am stuck my other truck is going to be somewhere else!

Im on the River map, took me 45 mins to get my long log trailer unstuck leaving a Lumber mill, its pretty damn addictive even if it is slow paced. Im yet to complete an objective.

Also just to point out, the ground does get deeper and more loose the more you drive on it as I have found ok

you're welcome :)

Land rover stuck again.. Guessing it's only good for flat surfaces.

Land rover is good for going inbetween trees. I almost exclusively use it for unlocking the cloaking areas, and occasionally the odd rescue when it's nearby. On the main tracks it'll get stuck way to easily. There is a mod with big tyres though if you want to use it more easily.

Thanks. It's a nippy little bugger isn't it.

I'll try uncloaking then take the lumber around, so I don't fall into any shortcuts, deep. Full of mud.

They are doing wheel support, but not sure on eta. God knows how but I managed to free all of my trucks from that hateful sinkhole in the plains, and am 2 logs away from completing it. Dropped my medium logs near the 2nd garage and managed to crane them back in place with another truck. Nearly lost them again near the objective and was bricking it when I finally pulled in with the logs only on the log cart and not on the trailer somehow. Phew

I don't know if any of you had the bug where the tyres would glitch under the map, getting the truck very very stuck, but it has been fixed today: http://steamcommunity.com/games/263280/announcements/detail/1823144928179173255

I had it a couple of times. Its was very easy to notice because the truck would go backwards when you accelerated and forwards when you reversed. It was also very difficult to get out of without resetting, although I managed it once or twice.

I had a convoy going on the first map. First one got stuck, while trying to get out it tipped and I lost the load. So I brought that big ass rescue truck over, pulled the truck back over, then spent nearly an hour trying to use the crane for the first time to re load the wood.

The convoy then only went probably quarter mile before my second truck tipped over :| By now the rescue truck is always following or scouting ahead so it can pull or rescue.. So he rights the truck and I use the crane from the other truck to reload the wood.

Then it comes to crossing the river. First truck makes it across, however the second gets stuck in the first stream.. Luckly I thought about this beforehand and had the rescue truck on the other side of the river.. So he reversed and gave a helping winch to pull the log truck across.

2 hours spent in under half a mile. Yet I enjoyed nearly every moment. It feels good, like you're acheiving something.. fighting the mud and sometimes losing. Very rewarding.

It's going to feel awesome when the two trucks make it to the objective.

have you thought about just using the big truck to carry the wood? it makes a lot more sense doing it that way! :D

I've started on the next map not sure what one that is! proving to be difficult but i've unlocked the 2nd garage, was trying to deliver my 1st load of logs last night managed to get across half the map before getting stuck!

I know exactly how you feel. You write up the events, and read them thinking "that sounds boring as ass" and yet the experience was tense, methodical, and a labour of love at the time. When you complete the map you will feel awesome.

protips:
-where you have it, using the massive truck to pull medium logs, and then tow another C class truck pulling medium logs behind it, is an easy way to nail an objective in one trip. Sadly the rescue truck can't do this, but you could equally use two C class trucks with mad skill. Don't forget to set the winch to accel, and steering to auto.

- crane use: with an xbox pad, use the right thumbstick to control movement, X and A to control up and down, and left thumbstick to rotate the claw, right trigger to grab. Makes it a lot easier than trying to do up/down with the left thumbstick.
