It appears that McCoist accused Lennon of being a racist and told him to stay away from the Rangers players albeit not in such polite terms and with a fair few expletives thrown in, including questioning whether his birth was before his parents marriage and referring to him in very base religious knuckle dragging terms. Anger towards this seems entirely justifiable especially when Lennon only tried to joke with him about the result and the future cup tie.

I would also urge all responsible football fans to stop buying the Sun. It ran a story on Diouf being racially abused at Celtic Park and used a photo to justify the story. It is deplorable that the aforementioned picture is an entirely photoshopped nightmare of a pic and it's a made up story.

Jock, I concur with the muhuhuhuhahaha-ha-ha-ha-ha and I'd twist my moustache if I had one. I just can't get enough.

Ally McCoist is a happy go lucky jovial kind of chap.

Diouf simply wants to play football

Oh my, two very wrong statements. McCoist completely lost it last night. The Rangers tactics where to simply park the bus and play for the counter. When that didn't work, the kick everything in hoops tactic began. If that is what is to be expected when McCoist is manager (he allegedly manages the cup games) then Rangers will struggle to field a side with all the suspensions that will be incurred.

Diouf is an idiot who makes Brown look positively saint like. It was Diouf who was out to posture and provoke and what the hell was he thinking when he barged into the Celtic physio? If that wasn't to provoke then what was it or wasn't the pitch big enough for his ego.

If Celtic are bitter and hateful, how do you account for the lack of red cards and only two yellows compared to three reds and five yellows for Rangers. Are you sure you watched the same game as everyone else?

Refusing to spell Celtic properly makes you a WUM, which goes against the rules of this thread.

According to the SFA, Diouf walked forty yards to the touchline to remonstrate with the fourth official about Whittakers ordering off. In the process of doing so, he barged into the Celtic physio which then prompted Lennon to have a go at him but look at the footage and you will see exactly who is foaming at the mouth, Diouf and McCoist. How dare our manager stick up for the physio. Diouf also tried having a go at Brown in the tunnel at half-time but Brown ignored him. Mjallby told him to shut up and Bartley turned on Mjallby (hasn't that boy learned well at Ibrox). An ill disciplined team and an odious little Diouf.

The fallout from last Wednesday continues as Diouf admits that there was no racist exchange between himself and Neil Lennon. Nice to see him admit this albeit a tad late.

I also had to chuckle about an Israeli sports magazine interviewing Beram Kayal and asking about Diouf -

He runs about everywhere and gets involved in everything, except football.

Rangers beat Kilmarnock to go two points behind with a game in hand. Looks like the referee played a major role with the Radio Scotland commentators lamenting three stone wall penalty decisions that where waved away.

Nothing to fear for Celtic though as I fully expect both teams to drop points in the remaining games although I feel Rangers will drop more than Celtic. I don't think the last game at Ibrox will be a decider at all and even then, I expect Celtic to keep up their winning ways in these encounters.

Yep the ref did indeed have a poor game. I watched the highlights and the quote from the commentator of 'that's six times this season that Rangers have benefited from own goals' was quite an eye opener.

Only two penalty claims where shown, one for each team, and the Rangers claim was poor as a deflected ball against an arm shows no intent. The last minute claim from Killie was indeed a stone waller. Lafferty and his skill of 'second touch a tackle' definitely catches the Kille forward and Rangers extremely lucky not to concede another penalty.

Mixu on yesterdays game -

Kilmarnock manager Mixu Paatelainen believes his team, which lost 2-1 to Rangers on Sunday, had little chance of being awarded a second penalty at Ibrox as "it's a difficult place to get any" - Killie's Tim Clancy felt he had been fouled in the box by Kyle Lafferty. (Daily Record)

On another note -

Celtic’s away support has been voted in the top five in a poll conducted by Zoo magazine. The mainly Premiership based survey saw 8% of supporters give Celtic their vote when asked: Who are the best away supporters in Britain. Not surprisingly Liverpool (28%), Manchester United (12%) and Newcastle (14%) filled the top three spots with Celtic in jont fourth place alongside Tottenham and ahead of West Ham, Manchester City and Leeds.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea filled the top three spots in the most hated supporters poll. Martin O’Neill is backed by 4% of supporters to become the next England manager with Harry Redknapp the overwhelming choice of 53% of those who took part in the poll. Steven Gerrard was voted as the best current Premiership player by 21% of fans with Gareth Bale, Carlos Tevez and Cesc Fabregas also well backed.

Ryan Giggs and Jimmy Bullard were the most popular drinking partners for the ‘who would you most like to go for a pint with’ poll with El Hadji-Diouf the runaway winner with 30% of the votes cast in the ‘who would you least like to go for a pint with’ category.

You can't deny though, Lafferty claims to have never touched Clancy for the last minute penalty claim when it is patently obvious he did and this makes him out to be a liar.

Foster also catches the boot of Clancy. It may have been a soft penalty but you still can't kick a player in the area and expect nothing to be done, oh wait, look at the sentence above. ;)

Considering all the highlights where not shown and the commentators on Radio Scotland claimed Killie had been denied three stone wall penalties, that would have made it 4-3 to Killie. Yep dodgy ref with poor performance.

Celts avoid a potential banana skin and defeat ICT 2-1. Aberdeen beckon in the semi-final but let's face it, they haven't been much of a threat to Celtic at any point this season.

Super Caley realistic, Celtic are bodacious!

The treble is on. In Lenny we trust.

Well done to Rangers, you coped better with an awful pitch. As was shown in the recent Motherwell game, some Celtic players are not at their best unless they are playing on a decent pitch and Hampden resembled a ploughed field. We where unable to play our usual passing game and as such, where nothing like the team who so easily beat Rangers in three recent games.

I was a bit perplexed by Ranger's second goal though. Pulling the ball back while the majority of the Celtic players had pushed up for an attack, quickly taken free kick which allowed Jelavic to run through on goal. Not exactly fair play.

The penalty incidents for Rangers where laughable. One outrageous dive which I felt should have been a sending off and a handball which actually hit his upper arm. Celtic had the better call with Wilson being fouled.

Anyhoo, well done Rangers. The league is still there to be won and while the treble may be bust, the double is still on for us. Hail Hail.

Good players can adapt to play on any surface

I think you will find that poor pitches are often referred to as a 'leveller' by most pundits and commentators. It allows less skillful teams balance against better teams who are more used to a passing style of play rather than the up and under stuff of their foes.

This is often borne out in the English FA Cup when minnows will sometimes get the better of Premier League clubs such as Man Utd, Aresnal and Liverpool.

I have to agree with Sonny on the 'off the ball incident' which no-one seems to understand what happened. There are three competing theories among the Rangers supporters which goes to prove the lack of evidence on what actually transpired. These incidents are almost always lead to a lecture or caution and a bounce ball from where play was stopped. I say 'almost always' because that is certainly not what happened on Sunday.

I dont think that is a free kick for an off the ball incident, a yellow card, but no free kick. If the ball had been played to Weiss and whilst it was in flight, he was then tripped up, then its a free kick, but this was no free kick

I concur. Not a free kick but a stop in play, warn Loovens and then bounce ball from where play was stopped.

Cali Thistle really need to buy a cover for that pitch. To be rained off once is acceptable but twice in four weeks is not.

Anyhoo, great result at Ibrox which should bring our resident Rangers supporters back down to earth with a bump. :)

Did anyone hear the arguements on Radio Scotland between Chick Yound and James Traynor? An ongoing discussion into the reporting of the Rangers v The Taxman story and a Rangers director admitting Rangers would be in crisis if they lost their case.

Midway through the discussion Traynor turns up the personal nature of the attack saying: “I remember you when you were at the top of your game at the Evening Times, sadly we lose it, some of us can’t hack it.”

Young left the Evening Times in the late 1980s and has been with the BBC for more than twenty years.

Soon afterwards Young said: “I’ve called the Daily Record liars in the past.”

Traynor was quickly back on the attack: “I think somebody in a position of authority in BBC should have a whisper in your ear and say enough is enough, you are in enough trouble already.”

After a relatively calm period describing other aspects of the crisis at Rangers the simmering contempt between Young and Traynor took a very personal turn for the worst.

“I’m just wondering now you’ve become a Rangers puppet,” Young added.

Traynor fired back: “Thats a direct quote from Rangers 20 year cheer-leader, well done Charles.”

Oh, with regard to the game today, Johnny Russell's goal must surely be goal of the season. I also found it funny that he seemed to signaling to the Rangers supporters that he just couldn't get enough. Priceless.
