General Plot

Splinter Cell: Conviction takes place roughly two years after the events of Splinter Cell: Double Agent.

Sam Fisher has gone rogue from Third Echelon after discovering that the death of his daughter, Sarah, was not an accident. However, Third Echelon, now overly-bureaucratic and bound in red tape, are in pursuit of Sam.

Sam must use all the help he can get, including former Third Echelon colleague Anna Grimsdóttír, and Sam's friend, Victor Coste, in order to discover the truth behind the death of his daughter.

Sam begins with going after his daughter's killer, but he finds himself trying to stop a more serious threat upon Washington DC...

Game Features
  • Strike from the shadows or take the fight into the open with devastating and brutal force in the relentless pursuit of the truth.
  • Outflank and outsmart your enemies with the Last Known Position system.
  • Mark and execute your enemies using swift and spectacular takedown moves with weapons, hand-to-hand combat or the environment.
  • Permanent broadband Internet connection and creation of a Ubisoft account required to play.

Kotaku said:
It's a bit hard to believe the long-delayed Splinter Cell: Conviction will actually be out soon. If you needed something tangible as proof, you could always try the Xbox Live demo of the game, due out this week.

It'll be released on March 18, which is this Thursday. Two levels from the game are playable, though they're not successive sequences, the action skipping around in order to avoid any potential plot spoilers...

Perhaps you should add to "game features" the fact that it uses the new UBIsoft DRM. This, coupled with the fact that Double Agent was terrible, both as a game and as an extremely buggy port which UBIsoft promptly dropped support for, does not raise my hopes that this game will be much good.

Does anyone know if they've gone back to the old shadow system or is it still the crappy one from Double Agent?

I'll add it now - however at least a demo is coming - still hoping it won't be as bad of a version as Double Agent was in comparison to its console brother :p

Ubi can go to hell with this shoddy DRM.

My purchase will be on the 360. Such a shame as i like playing my games in real 1080p

PC version looks very good. Some of the environments look amazing the level of detail is something else again  I've seen all the pre-release HD movies to date & it really looks special with several new moves & gameplay features. Look on youtube they have quite a few on there now in HD so you can see the detail yourself.

Ubisoft have spent a lot of money  on this as it was canned at least twice due to changes of direction then they said no Michael Ironside to save money but later backtracked & Ironside is definately back as Sam Fisher & gives another solid performance :D

But even though I bought all the other SC games on PC (Double Agent BTW is actually the best version on PC as the high res gfx & a few other minor extra scenes are included which are not on the 360 version) there is no way I am supporting the online always DRM as I do get ISP problems so being stopped out of the game I bought is not something I will ever support so my money goes to the 360 version as that can be played offline in SP mode.

This will probably be the last PC SC game as sales will be lower purely because of the DRM as you just know 100% the same fools who took the servers down recently will be doing so again & making SC5 unplayable for the PC gamers who do buy it :(

All the movies shown for any game are never what they really look like when the game released. They always enhance them in some way, plus watching them in a small window makes them look even better than they really are.

At least there will be a demo, so you can try before you buy.

There's been some in-game footage leaked over the internet, doesn't look great to be honest.

Graphics don't seem to have improved at all.

Does the Xbox360 version not have the DRM? I haven't owned a console for about 2 years hence the question, and wondering how Ubisoft will be going to hell if you're paying them more for that version

Just crack it if you dont like the DRM. Just make sure you buy the game though. As bad as Ubi are they have published a few good games e.g. Anno 1404

Ubi can shove it due to the DRM.

Besides that the whole thing stinks of rolling out a cash cow and we'll get yet another dodgy console port.

No sale
