*** Splinter Cell: Conviction - Official Thread ***

Well you've started with a classic ... prepare to be consistantly disappointed ;)

Haha :D Ah crap. Well truth be told I did first play a little of convinction first, before realising there was so much back story going on (and I hate playing games with a story from the end) I had to play the others first.

I'l give double agent a whirl. As long as the gameplay is the the same (ish) i'm sure it's worth a shot. (Which is more than I can say for going back and playing Max Payne on that £2.50 steam deal - what a load of rubbish)

umm... might be obvious question. but I just got this game and it doesn't seem to detect / work with my 360 controller ?
Wired works out of the box fine but wireless needs a mod until Ubisoft patch it. Look at my previous posts in this thread as I gave links to the tiny files needed to get it working ok.

Thanks, worked a treat !

Think my athlon X2 4000 is starting to struggle though :p

I cant get MP to work either, constant connection problems :(

Can't get it to work either.

Apparently if you open the ports mentioned in the link below, you can at least play a private match with someone from your friends list...

You can also use Tunngle VPN and play a LAN match, but so far I've only managed to get as far as seeing a server in the list - it still wont let me connect to it...

The real ****** is that if you look at the splinter cell room in Tunngle, it's basically got about 500 people in, all playing SCC on-line with a cracked version.

Indeed! the new patch is out. Multiplayer seems to be a little bit more stable now. I had my first MP game last night, its foookin ace! :D

ok question ....

when hiding behind an object, and then you can lean out slightly.... I'm not able to shoot anyone ? Is that right ?

I have to come right out of cover to shoot someone... seems a bit wierd.

huh? thats odd. You can shoot people when in cover, you dont even have to lean out first. Just click the fire button and he leans/shoots automatically.

The coop mode is great fun, it just takes loads of attempts to connect. The patch helped a bit, but its still not quite there yet.

I must say, I just finished SC: Conviction as well and I was extremely disappointed.

I expected something like what we saw in the trailers, crowd mechanics, fully dynamic environments, creating diversions, leading the police into shadows then taking them down there, etc.

I expected a completely new type of gameplay, other than what's already been perfected in Pandora Tomorrow / Chaos Theory.

Instead, what we got was just a continuation on the classic SC series, except this time shorter, less variation and a different voice in your head. Not to mention, the entire game was basically fighting against Black Arrow / Third Echelon, and everybody knew you immediately / constantly called out "What's the matter Sam Fisher, let's see how tough you are!" every 3 seconds.

I was always waiting for the real game to start, only to be interrupted by it suddenly ending. What the ****? Where's the Conviction that we've been seeing in trailers for so long?

I wont be buying it

Splinter Cell Convicition feels like ive banged a fat chick and got her preggers -
It was fun for 5 mins but now im stuck with it, cant dump it off on someone else and dont want a replay

So apart from buying a ludicrously overpriced game to pay for an equally ludicrous DRM they now want to charge you for even more boredom ?

I think £17.99 is quite reasonable for a PC game. Everyone to their own I guess. I take it that you have the game and were not impressed with it then duc?

I know that this is a late post but i picked this up the other week when i finished building my new PC, I have to say that i am very disappointed, it just doesn’t feel very splinter cell'ish.

I can understand the new direction after double agent which I didn’t like much compared to chaos theory but looking back i think DA is much better then this.

Where has the split jump gone? Where is the interaction of cutting off power cables or stabbing generator fuel tanks to shut off lights? Where have all the vents gone? And what happened to the thermal imaging, they could have added it as a second function?

It feels the levels are so 1 directional that the best way to get to the next check point is to kill everyone?!

BRING BACK THE OLD SAM FISHER! :(
