Split Air con

Stupid question (maybe) but does fitting aircon create a noticeable leakage of noise to the outside? Considering it for my lounge but from a home cinema aspect it’s already not exactly soundproof and quite noticeable outside when the volume is whacked up.

I think my Mitsubishi units can be controlled through Alexa or Google Assistant. Neither of which I use as I have an iPhone and I despise Amazon :D

Hoping once Matter is released it will fix all this incompatibility rubbish.

I've found the app is rubbish from a what you can do with it perspective but it never fails from a using perspective.
Let's hope so. Though I've found it keeps logging me out and forgetting my credentials. Sometimes gives errors saying cannot communicate, even though the commands get passed through. The setup was the worst bit though. I had the installers talk me through it, but my parents wouldn't have stood a chance for example.

Had my system installed yesterday. Very happy with the outcome from the local company I used. All units are very quiet. Only complaint is that the Mistubishi app for WiFi control is a bit ****, but it works (just).

Looks like a very neat install, hope you are happy with it, to be fair you wont realise how much you use it! Like today its really muggy

If you don’t mind me asking, do you have just one outside unit for the two internal units?

I’ve been looking into getting AC for cold and heating but my bedroom and living room are quite far apart and didn’t really want to have two outside units as it will look unsightly. Due to the recent weather having AC now in the UK has becoming a must have in your house.

It's a single outside unit, yes. Luckily the two rooms I want to cool are above each other. I was told that if you want more than one outside unit then you may need planning permission.

I've only actually used the system once since it was installed. I'm quite happy in temperatures up to about 25c inside. I'm not someone who likes the house to be 18c all year round :)

When I do use it I only have it set to ~23c or so. Nice and comfortable without being chilly. Saves energy, too. I was using the living room unit last night. Power draw started off at about 400 watts and settled to 250 once the room was down to temp. Pretty impressed.

Can you get a ducted system installed in the loft, yes you lose individual room control but no wall units needed and significantly cheaper.

You can get electronic damper manifolds, they sit in the loft and allow individual room temperature control.

A ducted system was under serious consideration here, but I didn't want loads of large ducts in the loft.

Just bear in mind that with any mini-split system you can only have either cooling or heat at any given time with a single outside unit. You can't have one heat and one cool. Wasn't a concern for me, hence I went with just the one.

If I was doing all the bedrooms I probably would have went with a ducted system as it's much tidier and you only need to drill small holes in the ceiling as opposed to having large wall units in each room.

So if I wanted to do 4 upstairs rooms would I need more than one outside unit? We would only look to use these on the unbearably hot days, set to probably 22 ish.
I have a lofted ducted unit and it cools down 3 bedrooms! The only downside/upside is that the air con takes longer to cool down each bedroom and its lowest temp setting is 19, however i find that my single unit machines downstairs are often too cold.
