Most installers only offer 1-2 brands of 10+ on the market so it comes down to what they offer, not what we can recommend. Likewise, they are mostly a much of a muchness anyway.

If you want aircon the first step is to get some quotes and go from there. You are best off asking for recommendations for installers but London is pretty big so you might need to be more specific in east/west/north/south.

Probably steering away from split air con a bit here, but I do not like this mindset at all. Comfort in your own home is always worth the investment in my opinion.

The whole "we only get 2 weeks of heat" or whatever argument isn't the case anymore in recent times.

The portable we had before getting installed AC used more electricity than the current installed system running multiple rooms. Obviously you're paying a lot less for the portable but it's night and day in terms of overall usability.

People also forget that the units can do heating in winter.

The main reason I had it fitted was for the winter, just an added bonus it got fitted just before the last heatwave!

What are the costs like to run it on heat mode? My garden office is only 3x3m and fully insulated so I am hoping it will be relativity cheap to heat during the winter months.

Didn't really notice a difference but also had them on more than I would've had the central heating on. Also, with CH you're generally running it for the entire floor whereas I could just run the AC for a single room, which helps.

I have 3x Samsung windfree units running (1x5kwh, 2x 3.5khw) and my house running cost is 0.9khw per hour at the moment with 31c outside and the units set to 22c

The running costs are entirely dependent on the heat loss/gain of your property and how hard you run the unit.

Run the compressor on low output, you’ll get COP in the 4+ range when cooling and heating. 1kwh of energy used = 4kwh of heat energy added or removed from your house.

Whack them up to high output and the COP will drop considerably, down to ~2 but you’ll be able to cool or heat at higher power.

As an example, running the compressor at 350w will translate into 1.3-1.5kw of heating/cooling. Running it at 2.4kw will translate into 5kw of heating/cooling.

Reviews are shocking for the 'MELCloud Home' app if that is what you mean. I use the MELCloud app which is also shocking but it does work well enough for me, just very clunky. I wish it would let you know how much power you are using for each unit.
 
I’m not looking forward to the app for Mitsubishi HI, absolutely slated on the App Store.
 
10th August can't come quick enough, 33c in the bedroom last night. It's been hotter lol

This is going to be one of the best things I've bought in a long time

I've been using this app for a couple of months now. Works perfectly so far, not had a single issue with it.

It allows you to fully control the unit from your phone. Not sure why the app gets so much hate!

it’s almost certainly a combination of user error and their own ***** wifi because they don’t understand basic physics.

If you put a low powered radio signal in the corner of those house inside a cabinet because the box is ugly, you don’t get much coverage in the rest of the house.
