Split Air con

This is my landing and looking at having it positioned as below. A guy came today and completely dismissed my idea. You can’t see from the floor plan but the main bedroom is a nightmare. Only place he could think of is behind the door opposite the en-suite but due to the depth of the unit the door won’t be able to fully open. Non starter.
I have a guy coming on Thursday if he thinks it’s not going to work I’m going to completely can the project. I’ve been using AI to help me size the unit and it thinks 3.5kw is fine on the landing.

just one unit for 4 bedrooms?
why not put a unit in each bedroom + living room?

if i were putting one unit in the landing i'd try to put it as central as possible
it's going to take a long while for the A/c to reach the end of the master bedroom

something like this?
(though still not the best as the cool air will probably go straight down the stairs)

@tamzzy yes that’s a good idea too. I could angle the fins to direct the airflow towards the main bedroom. We always leave the main bedroom door open even when sleeping so that could work.
how is the furniture arranged in your master bedroom?
is the window facing south?

honestly even with the landing unit, i'd be tempted to squeeze a smaller unit into the master

Probably quite a hard question to answer but just wondering what others have had to pay for a split aircon system.

We have a small-medium sized 3 bedroom new-build house. Looking to get the 3 bedrooms and living-room set up with their own units.

Upstairs
Room 1: 4.10 x 3.42m (East facing)
Room 2: 4.24 x 2.8m
Room 3: 2.63 x 2.62m

Downstairs:
Room 1: 4.83 x 3.34m (East Facing)

Hard to get quotes without actual site visits done and those seem to be booked up until the start of November. Had been advised that as a rough ball park I should be looking to pay around £7K, give or take. Anyone with a similar size house willing to share what they paid?

So another quote…mitsu electric - landing again and kitchen 7kwh and 5kwh with two separate units

Though he did say they don’t do heat loss calcs just based on m2 and experience of working on these types of properties

So the £7000 is pretty accurate then all things considered.

Think we're going to go ahead with it. It got boring last summer and especially this summer just not even being comfortable in the house. We have one of those portable AC units but they're pretty naff (as well as being loud and expensive and as soon as you turn it off - it heats up immediately) and fans can only do so much.

is that your budget or is that a quote? if that's a quote and it's a good manufacturer etc, then better lock it in asap
prices going up by the day due to demand and equipment shortages

on average nowadays, you'd be looking at £4k-ish for the labour cost, and whatever the installer charges for the equipment

That was a rough figure when I gave someone my room sizes etc.

Though someone else had just said about 5500 when given the same details. They’re coming out next Monday for an onsite quote. Something about the VAT changes in March if I don’t get it installed by then
