Spoilers Ahoy!!! Football 22 - Jan 2011

Drogba's stats were immense
They were decent but not immense.

Since joining Chelsea he's got 92 in 185 league games - Just under 1 in 2.
And since the '05-06 season he's got 82 in 159 - Slighty better than 1 in 2.

Compare that to Torres, who's got 65 in 101 games since joining us in 2007, it doesn't look that great.

Edit: oh and unlike the other 3, Torres hasn't taken a penalty either :p

Baz!

Whats the stats of Torres V Rooney V Drogba in the time period they've all been in the league (so since Torres joined pool) if you know them :)

Torres: 65 in 101 games - 1 goal in every 1.55 games
Drogba: 50 in 94 games - 1 goal in every 1.88 games
Rooney: 52 in 102 games - 1 goal in every 1.96 games

Say that then :p

theres another reason as well..and as a sunderland fan I feel well placed to comment on this

he is one dimensional..he get you goals no argument, but he has to play a certain way, and you end up becoming over reliant on him (at least we did last season) because he is your main goal scoring focus you build the way you play around that, and you either get sussed out by the rest of the league or more simply if he has an off day then you get nothing out of the game.

Villa have a good team that has not been meeting expectations and they have chucked all their eggs into one basket..and it will work, he will keep them up of this I am sure. the trick will be next season, will they just build around Bent as we did and hope it works...we never had a plan B last season.
Sounds exactly like Shevchenko prior to Chelsea.

At Dynamo Kiev, and to a lesser degree A.C. Milan, the teams were built around him as the lone striker/target man and he slotted in impressive amounts, much like Bent has. He was 'found out' at a Chelsea whose tactics couldn't orbit around him and played mediocrely until he was sold back to the Ukraine.

Even in Bent's post-match interview yesterday he talked about his decision to join Villa, and his comments were purely in terms of how many chances players like Young and Downing could provide to him rather than any comment on the team's quality without him in the equation.

Blackburn 2-0 up against West Brom.

And just heard some terrible news. Fat Sam is going to be doing some commentary work for Sky :o

If it wasn't bad enough him being the ocassional guest, we're now going to have to put up with hearing him during the game too.

Striker in wanting to score goals shocker?

is anybody watching the post match chat with SA and Holloway on sky? Holloway slating the long ball game while sitting next to Fat Sam!

Then fat sam complaining he has been tagged 'long ball Sam Allardyce' - and this is only because it was opposition managers from the top 4 complaining against his team. Apparently it only came about as his team would beat them.

I think the fat must be infiltrating his brain - always moan moan moan with him - i guess the truth hurts. When a manager puts Chris Samba in attack it can only mean one thing - LONG BALL!

I wouldn't trust any judgement from a man who believes he's good enough to manage R Madrid, and looks like a Walrus ****.

I see that W Brom and Blackburn managed 22 different nationalities today. Has this lack of English players irked anybody or is everybody done once Arsenal were ripped for it years ago.

Well at least Blackburn had two English players and a Scot, plus wasnt most of the Arsenal team French then? :D
The difference this time I guess wasnt the amount of foreign players but the amount of different nations represented.

Maybe you should read what you're quoting next time?

There was previous posts talking about whether not Bent could make it at the biggest clubs in England, and I said Bent is like Shevchenko in that he has mainly played in teams that are built around him rather than vice versa, and he clearly expects this to be the case at Villa as per his post-match comments. He could not be accomodated in this way by the Man Uniteds or Chelseas in the league, so it leads me to believe that he is not suited to these bigger clubs in both his playstyle and egotistical mentality.

I presume you didn't see the interview?

I'm wondering how many points adrift of the leaders Spurs have to be before they stop this delusional talk about being "Title contenders" and "as good as United".

If teams gain points at the same rates for the rest of the season, united will win the league with 83 points.

Arsenal will finish 2nd with 76
City 3rd with 71
Chesea a distant 4th with 65
and spurs will be going bust next season doing a leeds in 5th with no CL football on 62.

What's that based on, does it assume the form of the last five games remains constant or something? :)

Average from the games played so far.

Realistically United wont keep gaining points like they are doing, the games at Liverpool and Chelsea will most likely both be defeats barring some miracle, and City will come and park the bus to be the second team to get a draw at OT this season.
