** Spoilers ** Carling Cup Quarter-Finals [Nov 30th-1st Dec]

Of course they are, squad players maybe so but none of them are shoe in's for the first team bar Giggs and Fletcher.

You're turning into our version of DM :/

So you're saying O'Shea, Evans, Smalling, Fabio, Hernandez, Bebe and Obertan are all playing in the reserves this season then?

I think you might be wrong.

How am I 'our DM'? Because I get fed up watching pathetic performances like this and rightly criticize poor decisions?

I know Bebe is rough but he has been shocking tonight :( was far better in his previous games.

HT 1-0

Lucky to be ahead but we've been the better team. It's still open for any team to twin but we look like the favourites at the moment, we just need to take our chances (as usual).

I don't know why I even bother.

VdS
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Nani Scholes Carrick Park
Rooney Berbatov

That is pretty much the first team, the rest are squad players, playing in the CC which means nothing and is always a run out for the kids.

The way you're crying it's like we're losing the Champions League final, get over yourself.

Pretty much every time the line up gets posted before a game you will moan about it and say how dreadful it is and why is fergie doing this etc.

We've been written off completely this season and have played poorly in some matches, but not as many as people make out.

Just because players that are on the field right now get SOME first team games, it doesn't mean they are first team players. A lot of them a young and need to get experience, something which we've used the CC as for quite a while.

Using the CC to give lots of players a run out has been useful to several of our players, something which I think is golden and I'm not sure I'd want us to be fielding our first XI and going hell for leather really!

Not that lucky, had a penalty that should have been given and another that could have, plus Vela has messed up two sitters and Bendtner early too

Those two Van Persie touches were so good. So glad he's back

Boa Morte was lucky not to get a yellow, or a red for the tackle on Fabio, the scissor type tackles are getting a bit too dangerous.

Boa Morte is such a dirty bleeder.

Should have got a yellow for that challenge on Fabio, let alone all of his others.

You said "reserve team" you said nothing about squad players, if we were playing the reserve team I could understand this performance but these are the kind of players we are calling on week in week out, all of these players have played and will play a part this season. The likes of Giggs, Fletcher and O'Shea are some of the most experienced footballers in the country with umpteen trophies and medals to their name.

Forgive me for wanting to win every match, I hate seeing United lose and more importantly hate seeing us lose without a fight. You'd think these players would be trying their hardest to break into the first 11.

I have a few decisions that Fergie keeps making that I strongly disagree with:

1.) Playing anyone but Rafael at right back, O'Shea is just getting worse and worse and Neville should have retired years ago. Luckily Fergie has seen sense now and starts Rafael, which I have rightly praised him for.

2.) Starting one striker - Seriously when has it worked for us? This season we have seen Macheda, Berbatov and now Hernandez doing absolutely nothing in a match because of lack of support. Yet he still persists with it. I'd rather see him drop one striker if he needs someone extra in central midfield than utterly sacrifice our strikeforce. Manchester United has been built on great strike partnerships and seeing that removed from our side really saddens me.

Spot on. He didn't have a word to say about the match one way or another at the weekend and yet here we are 2-0 down and he's here in force bitching about this and that

When these players aren't being played he's asking why isn't the likes of Obertan being given a chance and when they are he's moaning about why we ever signed them

Above would have been my reply.

Additionally let me propose this:

If Rafael hadn't of had game time in the Carling Cup etc, would he be fighting for that RB position now?

The way we have given our players the experience in the CC, win or lose, is what is bringing them through as well.

I'm ****ed we are getting beaten out of sight by the worst manager in the league and the worst West Ham side of the past 50 years.
I just cannot see the point of playing O'shea, Giggs and Evans.

O'shea is a joke, Giggs legs have finally gone and Evans cant defend.

I would rather see Brown in the middle with Smalling, I would rather see Bebe, Obertan or Macheda upfront with Hernandez rather than Giggs.

I dont see what putting sides out like this acheives, it gives the kids no confidence and if things go on like they are, it knocks the club out of a very real chance of silver ware this year.
Especially considering we have Liverpool in the FA cup, we dont have any real form or lead in the league and are nowhere near strong enough to challenge for the CL.

Its just a waste.

I was at work at the weekend, believe me I wish I could have been watching it :( Saw it the next day and we were absolutely fantastic, best performance of the season by far. Anderson in particular played the best I have seen him play since his first season.

I'd love for you to find one INSTANCE where I have complained about us signing Obertan? Oh right you just made that up. I think Obertan has come on leaps and bounds recently and I'm glad he's got the chance, would love to see him on the ball more second half.

Quick someone tell SAF I bet he's been loosing sleep over some no nothing fan criticising his decisions

3-1 against City in the Carling Cup Semi at OT
2-3 against Milan in the San Siro
4-0 against Milan at OT
1-3 against Arsenal at the Emirates

To name a few games from last season where playing 1 up front has worked. I bet if it was absolutely necessary I could find a million other examples of where 4-5-1/4-3-3 has worked but I'm not wasting my time
