** spoilers ** English League Football [20th - 22nd November 2010]

Arsenals problems are the same Arsenals problems they have had for the past 5 years, he wont change his management style, and he wont spend any money.

He needs someone decent in midfield to play alongside Fabergas, he needs two decent wingers, he needs two decent centerbacks, and he needs a decent Goalkeeper.
Its not something thats crept up on him, its what they have needed for 5 years.
6 decent players over 5 years isnt too much to expect really.

He might even have those players at the club, but rather like Redknapp and Ferguson, once they take a dislike to you, you never play again, or once you are their favorite (like Park in uniteds case) you get a game week in week out irrespective of how many Donkey balls you do in fact, suck.

i haven't seen enough of arsenal to make a fair judgement but is fabregas' heart still at the club? watching the penalty incident and it is just pure bizarre, also his body language after spurs scored their 3rd is of a man defeated

No, he's still far and away the best player, but Wenger had to do a lot of persuading which probably included a bunch of rubbish about change and intentions and blah blah blah. How many games can a top player play alongside Denilson, watch him do nothing and watch a game slip away, and see several hugely better options sitting and waiting on the bench, only to see Theo come on.

Remember that Fabregas looked shattered about 30 mins into the game even while winning, as he has done lately. He's had a bad hamstring for the best part of 2 years on and off, and has been rushed back about 4 times this season already, and instead of Gerrard/Torres style protection and playing 60 minutes and being taken off, he's being played for 90, playing midweek and just looks exhausted.

His game hasn't dipped due to motivation, due to injury and lack of fitness it has, but not much. At some point he'll just decide to go anywhere, even if Barca don't want him, a dozen other top 4 clubs would jump at the chance. Someone questioned how good he was yesterday which was laughable, throughout the entire game he was putting absolutely brilliant 10 or 40 yard passes through for people who did nothing with them, if every decent chance he created had been put away we'd have won the game by a huge margin.

Spot on, Diaby, Denilson, Song, Sagna, no matter what they do in a game, like Diaby against Barca last year was the single worst performance I've ever seen from an Arsenal player since I've been alive, he couldn't pass, he couldn't tackle, he conceded stupid freekicks if a Barca player happened to run near him, he didn't close anyone down at all throughout the game, literally put in no effort, I could have gone and stood on the half way line and not moved an inch and the performance would have been all but identical.

He still wasn't dropped, yes he got a brace against Pompie, and yes Park gets a brace now and then aswell, its football, the worst players ever in the league can still get a couple of goals, thats how football is, you can just stand in the box and the ball cannons in off you, thats life, things fall right and a miskicked ball can go anywhere, including in the back of the net.

But Park and Diaby shouldn't be anywhere near the premier league, Diaby I question his ability to be a decent player at any level at all.

I've said for years, its not really about buying(though it would help) and its certainly not about money, theres plenty of cheap 17yr olds who could be first team by now had we been looking for the right players 6-7 years ago. Its about of the squad we have now, never ever playing the strongest we have available.

I honestly think the EPL is ripe right now for a La Liga type domination if a manager could get it together.

Chelsea, top of the league have 4 losses, 1 draw, they've dropped 14 points, Real have 2 draws, no losses, they've dropped 4 points, Barca 5 points, they just destroy every other team around. The only reason Arsenal/Utd don't look that bad, and City's inability to score isn't costing them, is Chelsea are doing really just as badly for a "top team".

DM do you actually support arsenal or hate them? it seems like you only like 3-4 of your teams players, the rest especially Song, Theo etc you cant say a good word about them.

I watched motd and the football league show last night and there were a lot of penalties, one thing I noticed was how many of them looked like dives :-/

What a comical game Palace vs Sheffield Utd was. Ref was awful, gave 2 dubious pens, and sent of 2 players one for desent, another for a challenge barely a yellow

20 starts this season with 6 goals, 3 assists, and rarely a performance I've seen where he isn't running his little legs off... what's he doing wrong?

Did you see the Colchester v Hartlepool game where the ref gave a penalty for handball when it was blatantly outside the box ?

Varney's goal was a peach!

Anyone see who it was that lobbed the keeper brilliantly in a Championship game yesterday? The Football League show was on in the corner of the pub last night, so I saw the goal, but the booze has since made me forget who scored it, and what the teams were. :o

"Miguel Salgado -a Real Madrid legend, now enjoying himself...in the Premier League."

It's alright mate, we all know that Blackburn's a bit of a dive. :p

Edit - got a link to that goal by any chance?

The vast proportion of La Liga sponsorship money goes to Real Madrid and Barcelona because they are allowed to negotiate their own TV deals. If that were the case in the Premiership, you'd find the top 4 moving further and further ahead here - but because the money is more evenly spread in the Premiership, you have smaller teams that have some seriously quality players sprinkled in them, which means that on their day they can give anyone a game, and the competition is closer.
