***SPOILERS*** Football 11th-13th Dec '10

To be fair it should be pointed out that he's English and had recently done a good job on Fulham; Roy was in demand last year/summer. However pulling a team from relegation to mid table is a wholly different task to taking a club slumped down in mid table back upwards.

What's wrong with that, Liverpool are a mid table team now ?

If you want your top 4 finish back you're going have to speak to Spurs and City and ask them nicely to stop winning :p

MW

???????

I dont give a flying **** what happens to liverpool?

I can understand why liverpool fans would be bothered, I'm just passing comment.

Tactics to blame yet again . Home last week we have our mid pair closing down first and worrying on shape second, it worked, this week however every 10 secs our midfield four are looking at eachother to make sure our shape was intact. Doesn't work against physical teams ! Torres must hate playing for Roy, under rafa no matter how many injuries he had he was back at his usual goals/games ratio of 1.09 or so. Now he looks bearly interested unless it's at home. If roy is here for the start if next season we'l be looking at finishing below 12th and millions wasted on PFK (yes Paul ****ing konchesky) type signings, I mean this guy wasn't even stand out for a little club like fulham fir Christ sake.

I have to say that DM does have a point. Roy is not performing worse than Rafa was in the latter half of last season, and a turnaround was not going to happen overnight. What is most worrying is that a turnaround does not show signs of materialising. With the exception of Meireles and potentially Cole (who has so far had such a fragmented season that it's hard to say) and Wilson (a complete unknown), Roy's signings have been uninspiring, and his tactics equally so. While not given a treasure chest, he has had some money to spend, and what he spent he spent poorly.

This is the problem. I simply cannot see how things are going to change under him. This was also my problem with Rafa towards the end. Things were bad and neither the squad nor his tactics were changing this.

More rubbish, you're 8th, you finished 7th last season, after a poor start, you've still got amongst the highest form over the past 6 games.

You won 5 away games total last season, 4 of those wins were in 2009, 1 win away in 2010(as they were saying Liverpool had won 2 games this calender year away, one this season one last, I'm taking that as correct).

Meaning your away form went to absolute crap LAST SEASON, nothing to do with hodgson.

Again, first half of last season Liverpool were running on form, second half of last season Liverpool were utter garbage, especially away from home, Hodgson is BEATING the second half of last years form. If you had played the same way all last season as the second half, you could easily have finished bottom half.

Since then the team has gotten weaker over summer, through no fault of Hodgson, with probably the teams most important player having been sold.

Anyway, Newcastle with a new manager, with a point to prove, when your away form for the entire calender year being horrific, only a deluded person expected a fantastic Liverpool performance.

Lucky Soto stayed on the pitch to be honest, I think even Shearer might have been shocked at the amount of times he jumped with his elbow out, Ngog certainly was.

Also it was the supposefuly fantastic Lucas that refused to close Carroll at the end, great shot, should never have had the space to take it.

Half the Liverpool squad doesn't bother away from home, and haven't since LONG before Hodgson took over. Torres was a waste of space, bar a flukey goal so was Kuyt, and just about everyone.

So in essence, liverpool were crap before Hodgson, Hodgson has come in, and changed absolutely nothing, so bye bye Woy, you are a complete waste of time?

Got a chuckle from me :o

BBC:
garrethhawkins on Twitter: "I've seen a lot of Liverpool fans with YNWA in their name on Facebook, I can only assume it means 'You'll Never Win Away'?"

Yea, those days when we controled games completely, and a draw felt like a loss considering our 60 percent possession were just as bad as being turned over in every single away game.

Fact is, inter, whilst being poor before Roy went there, had a better away record before his signing, snap every team Roy manages. Coincidence I think not.

6th, yes. But who are these 2 other teams that should be finishing above us?

Well ignoring Chelsea, United, Arsenal. Spurs and City will both most likely finish above you. The other one could be a number of teams, depends if anyone gets a run going, probably most likely to be Villa or Everton despite their relatively poor starts to the season.

Are you basing this on how bad we are with Hodgson or simply the strength of our squad?

If you're basing it on the strength of our squad compared to Villa and Everton then it would be a disaster to finish below either, however very possible with Hodgson around.

Been in bed all day with the flu. Just woke up and seen the Liverpool result...

LOL.

Come this time tomorrow though...Bale vs Ferreira, that's going to be fun.

A bit of both, I won't pretend to have seen a lot of Liverpool this season but strength on paper is not the same as what's out there at the moment. I don't think it's just Hodgson, he's just one of the factors.

Great win. Was expecting a good spanking so really happy withthe result.

Campbell is a complete donkey, feel sorry for the bloke as he was once great but as soon as Colo and Williamson are fit he needs launched out the team. As bad as Campbell is Barton and Carroll are great. If we keep our first team fit and free of suspension we will stay up.

Still unhappy with the Hughton decision and the whole process but will still back the team. Not Pardews fault taking the job but with more results like this he'll win the fans over eventually.

No, but liverpool fans are under the delusion they massively underperformed last year and any decent manager would have, basically Torres, Gerrard and...... performing like a top 4 club instantly.

As said, first 8 games, 1 win, last 9 games, 5 wins, theres been a huge turn around, and frankly some of the away games the lost in the first 8 and home, were against some crap teams, while the away games in the past 8 games have been MUCH tougher. AS a gooner I wouldn't necessarily expect any points at Stoke, and wouldn't expect a win at Spurs, previous seasons maybe, this season Spurs are a top 5/6 club and expecting a win away is stupid. Stoke have home form and not much else.

Theres already been a turn around at Liverpool, one more loss doesn't change that. Hodgson isn't a away game genius either, look at Fulham, why would anyone expect a massive turn around in away form, home form is coming good, theres been a monumental shift in home for in the past 8-9 games.

All I'm saying is Liverpool will take TIME to improve, the team has changed, its lost its best defensive player, Caragher is getting worse by the year and that continues to happen.

Any manager would have a tough time this year and most would take time to turn them around. Fulham to be fair, are a quite weak squad and you don't really expect good away form so its a little harsh to say Hodgson isn't good away from home in general, but he also didn't have the team with fulham to really become a great manager in outfoxing the away team. With Fulham it was a case of sit back and defend as a tight unit, something that with Caragher/Soto/Johnson/Konchesky won't happen quickly(if at all).

Expecting great top 4 form from the start of the season is stupid, expect great away form after last year is laughable, ignoring the MASSIVE turn around in the past 9 games is ridiculous, this happened at HOME not AWAY, losing away again doesn't change that, in any way whatsoever.

Nor can Hodgson just somehow make a team that stopped performing away from home, do so, because he wants to. Lucas didn't close down today, he was terrible today, yet Liverpool fans will tell you he's been outstanding this season AT HOME. So do you think Hodgson told Lucas to stand off and fail to make any telling tackles, or do you think the squad gained this "away mentality" last year, when the away form went to crap.

The home form HAS changed, they have belief at home, something they didn't have last year, or early this season, thats the first step, and they've gone from 3 points, to 15 points at home first 8 vs next 8 games, thats HUGE.

Next step is getting draws away from home and winning more at home, step after that is getting some belief away from home, with January and some investment in players, that can only help.

Torres had an awful World Cup from a personal point of view, was shocking.

Hasn't improved since.

Showed a glimpse against Chelsea.

Don't know whats up with him :(

Gaby Logan's not a bad presenter. But like all other women who have tried to present football it feels forced. Sorry, but if you haven't played it, or on Gaby Logan's case barely any sport why is she presenting the pinnacle of football shows in this country?

Pft...
