**SPOILERS** Football 26th Feb - 2nd Mar 2011

Yeah but we have videos, and we can all see it is malicious and 100% on purpose

That's the reason they should have banned him, the ref clearly didn't see it properly on the pitch or he'd have obviously been sent off on the spot.

Well, apparently they dont agree :)

I agree it looked very dodgy, I dont really think its possible to tell if its 100% deliberate or not though.

He could, for example, have been trying to get his arm infront of him and completely misjudged it and whacked him in the head, you just dont honestly know.

anybody who claims the FA do not favour the big teams is simply deluded

lolol Tinfoil hat.

Gerrard should have been banned too. It's all disgraceful. I was talking about Rooney though

Elbowing opponents in the head, on purpose no less, is almost as low as it gets on a football pitch. There aren't many things more dangerous

You wonder, if Rooney had got elbowed in the head, would things have played out differently? (not saying McCarthy is as scummy as Rooney and capable of it.)

That is outrageous that he has escaped punishment. Clattenburg is bound to say he was satisfied with the decision he made 'at the time'. Surely looking back at it it is clear to him that he didn't see the true extent of the incident and therefore got his decision wrong..

come on...if it had been the other way round McCarthy on Rooney

for a start he would have probaly been sent of there and then...but he would have still ended up with a ban after the FA had looked at the video

if we can all see it was deliberate why cannot the buffons at the FA..or do they simply not want to annoy Rooney?

Yep ^ It's so black and white you start wondering which part of the process has halted his ban. That's the worrying bit I referred to earlier, who's decision was it to leave it? Why is this person in power if they're so damn incompetent?

Edit:
Clattenburg told the FA on Monday that he feels he took the appropriate action, which means the governing body cannot launch disciplinary proceedings against the 25-year-old England forward.

So it says it was Clattenburg, or at least he's getting the fall publicly, we'll never really know who made this call I feel, because as far as that sentence goes, either Clattenburg needs to be out of the game forever for incompetence or it wasn't him

And there proves Fergie's point, when it's united or one of their players everyone has an opinion and wants action taken. When it's someone like Gerrard wheres the mass debate then?

Again, you cant possibly know that. You can guess, but cant we all.

That really is shocking, i assumed it was a ban no questions asked (Even though i hoped he'd escape)

Really dont know what they're playing at!

there was plenty and he should have also been banned..but he's another big England player who gets away with it most of the time

Don't get me wrong not taking anything away from Kelly he looks a great prospect, if he stays at RB the league is going to have 2 very good RB's in the coming years with him and Rafael, but Giggs did leave him giddy in the FA Cup tie :p

Not fussed about Suarez, Smalling kept a much better player Tevez quiet so im confident he can do likewise with him. He's only scored one goal for you so far hasn't he?

Kelly is better than Rafael though, cause he is English :D

Yeah Suarez has only scored 1 goal, but he hasnt had much of a run out yet, its not like he has only scored 1 in 10 games for us :)

I might just have to quote you on this "Smalling kept a much better player Tevez quiet so im confident he can do likewise with him" during and after the match, its one of those juicy quotes which can come back to haunt a person :) (especially as tend to repeat such things at every opportunity ad infinitum :D )

What a disgrace, not even a telling off/fine/ban, "hey kids look up to Rooney and his antics, **** prostitutes, go with one while your wife is pregnant, elbow players in the head" its all part of being a professional player

Another reason to hate mancs/scousers/fa

Clattenburg told the FA on Monday that he feels he took the appropriate action
he did not take any action, he did nothing

I can see where they come from with the whole 'undermining the referee' business. But in this case, Clattenburg didn't see the extent of the incident. He saw a coming together and gave a free kick for it. So at the time, he is bound to have been satisfied with how he dealt with the incident 'at the time'. He won't have seen the elbow. So the situation wasn't dealt with in the game as the free kick was awarded for a coming together, not an elbow.

If he is happy with how he dealt with the incident during the game and remains happy having seen the footage then he is basically saying that an elbow in the head is fine by him.

Appalling.

It was months ago why would I bring it up now? I'm fairly sure at the time I said on here how bad that one was (even though it was more of a forearm than an elbow and so much, much less dangerous)

I don't really mind Rooney, but elbows to the head are so bad.

Nope, no conspiracy. Just incompetence.

Not calling it a conspiracy but this isn't incompetence, it can't be. I have to believe something else at play, can't accept that the ref has watched that video a few times and thought 'nope, nothing wrong there. That challenge is fine.'

He must be your role model then, just without any money :)

So what are you calling it then?

None of us have the first idea to the FA's inner workings, it could literally be one of many things. We have no idea

All I know is that a ref doesn't look at that challenge and say it's ok. Because it isn't

He jumped and lifted his elbow into his head, how can you doubt the intent (not that intent is important at all, it was reckless, stupid and very dangerous)
